Wood ramps help load and unload items from my truck. In 1992, a 7 3/8" Aluminum Ramp Top Kit and a 2x10x12' pine board with few small knots. The board was cut to make 2 ramps and bolted it to the kit. The kit is constructed from heavy duty extruded aluminum. It is equipped with protective pads to protect your tailgate (did not install). Top of kit has non-skid top surface for improved traction. The kit includes mounting hardware and installation to the 2x10 was easy
The ramp has been used to load walk behind mowers, sickle bar mowers, wheel barrow, rototiller and doors attached to a door dolly. They are perfect for moving into a house with a couple of front steps and make great platform on saw horses. The ramps have also been used to help load and unload a 100 gallon water tank.
I have only used the ramps for items less than 300 lbs but the have not broken. The kit was built to last and served me well.
Thoughts and Hacks
The 6' ramp slope is a little steep when used on the truck bed and probably should be 8 feet.
Sometimes wheels of the item being loaded fall off the ramp if not aligned correctly or you can not see the position of the wheel on ramp. A 12" wide ramp might help but for now care needs to be taken to use the 10" ramp.
