The processing area is located in the corner of my shop and used part of the work bench area for the slab roller and storage shelves for drying and storage of green ware.
The floor under wheel was covered with a larger tarp (6x8 or larger) or vinyl sheet flooring. It makes it easy clean up the dust with sponge mop. Homedepot has salvage vinyl sheet flooring that is affordable.
A small clamp light from Truevalue hardware helps illuminate the wheel.
A short bench is used to hold the wheel and for storing tools and bats.
The pugmill is located next to the wheel bench to conserve space and consolidate dust to the corner of shop.
My throwing stool is a Harbor Freight Mechanic Stool with wheels removed and attached to a 6 inch tall metal frame (the unused kiln legs).
The wall in front of the bench has a pegboard for holding tools and the laser throwing gauge bracket.
A car washing sponge from Dollar store or foam pad cut to sponge size is great for cleaning wet clay from hands and drying them. It has replaced the towel I had been using.
In September 2022, I replaced the blue tarp with a sheet of vinyl flooring from Home Depot. It was a precut 6x8 ft and cost was less than $30. The old blue tarp had worn out from multiple mopping and foot traffic. Removal showed the tarp was still working with little dust under the main part of the tarp but the edges had considerable clay buildup.
Blue tarp and equipment removed and floor mopped.
Vinyl floor sheet installed.
Equipment moved back into place.
