I purchased the camera in 2000 after going to Rwanda in 1999. During the trip through Africa my film camera was stolen out of my luggage waiting to be transferred to a connecting KLM flight. The 280 was new technology with a good review in 1999. It costed slightly more than my film camera. I was sad to loose access to my telephoto lenses fore the Canon FTB camera but the zoom on the 280 still produced good images. The 280 camera had 2x optical and 3x digital zoom and wonderful macro mode.
Liked the aa battery power. Easy to purchase more when backup batteries dead.
Prints (8x10 inches) were acceptable. Tried 11x17 prints and found them to be slightly fuzzy.
