We have a starling that loves to nest in the peak of our roof that overhands the front deck. For many years, I would spread a tarp over the deck to act as a target and catch most of the bird poop. In 2022, The birds showed up early and I did not get the tarp out in time. I scrubbed the deck a couple of times but sought a easier solution cleaning the deck.
I had been looking at pressure washers for cleaning the lichens and moss off the grave stones at Cordelia Lutheran Church. Cordelia is the oldest Lutheran building in Idaho. It does not have electricity so options for a pressure washer were limited to battery or gas.
I purchase a Black and Decker 20v Pressure Washer in May, 2022.
The washer provides up to 350 PSI and is about 5x the pressure of a garden hose. Most pressure washers are in the 1000 PSI range. Black and Decker 20v Pressure Washer should probably be called power cleaner.
The unit comes with a 20 ft suction hose to draw from any freshwater source or maybe connected directly to a hose. It is light weight (<5 lbs with 1.5AH battery). The nozzle is adjustable from fine point to flat fan for different cleaning streams. I found I mainly leave it on fine point. It uses standard Black and Decker 20V batteries although some of the newest batteries did not lock in place.
Ideal for small areas where a 20v battery is the only option or you do not want to mess with a big washer. It worked amazingly well given low water use, pressure, and power consumption. Cleaned the deck without etching the wood, windows, house siding for paint preparation, road grime off car and even worked to clean headstones at a country cemetery. Runs for 20 minutes using the 1.5 amp/hr battery. Best use range is 2 to 3 ft from nozzle tip.
It is FUN to use but NOT a “Big Boy Toy” because of the limits of a 20v tool.
