*** LOCKPORT DAILY JOURNAL, MONDAY, MARCH 28, 1898 - A Surprise - Saturday evening about 40 young ladies met at the residence of Mrs. Ed. Brussow, 308 Chestnut Street, having been invited by Mrs. Rud. Urtel and Mrs. Ed. Brussow to attend a surprise party in honor of Miss Lena Kleinhaus. The evening was very enjoyable. The time was passed in playing games, singing, recitations, etc. Exceptionally good was the poem read by Mr. Loge, composed by him for this occasion. Supper was furnished by Mrs. Brussow and Mrs. Urtel. At the supper Miss Kleinhaus was presented with a handsome china cup, saucer and plate and numerous other useful articles, among them a handsomely decorated soup tureen. Among the out-of-town guests were Miss Anna Kleinhaus of Wolcottsville and Miss Rosa Kleinhaus of Middleport, sister of the young lady in whose honor the party was given.
