In 1917 Norman registered for the WWI draft just before his 22nd birthday. His draft card stated he had a wife and a child and was employed as a farm laborer near Gasport, NY. However, Norman did not seem to serve in the armed forces. Also in 1917, Norman and his family lived on (Saunders) Settlement Rd. just north of Gasport. In 1919 Kathleen reportedly lived with her parents and only her children on Mill Rd. just south of Gasport "for some time". By 1920 back together Norman and Kathleen with their sons, Gorman and James were living in Lockport, NY on Hyde Park where Norman was employed as a machinist. By 1925 Norman was a grocery wagon driver (see below) and living on Elmwood Ave in Lockport. In 1930 Norman and Kathleen with their 6 children were renting a house on Main St. in Gasport, NY. By 1940 Norman and his family were renting a house on Gasport (Chesnut Ridge) Rd. in Lockport where he was employed as a pressman in a factory. And in 1950 Norman owned a home on 171 Washburn St. in Lockport (see Polster Photos on the Occupations page). Norman retired from Harrison Radiator in 1965. Norman and Kathleen had 7 children, 10 grandchildren, and more than 7 great-grandchildren.
The Norman Kleinhans branch is related to the Gormley family due to Norman's wife Kathleen Gormley. According to the FamilySearch website, through the Kellogg family, the Gormleys are related to Emily Elizabeth Dickinson and twenty-six (26) US Presidents from George Washington to Richard Nixon, Diana Princess of Wales, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley to name just a few (62 total according to FamilySearch). You can't see the list of famous relatives directly on FamilySearch unless you have a (free) account and belong to the Norman Kleinhans branch. However, here is a page with the famous relatives' pictures but you still need a FamilySearch account to view their separate personal pages.
