Fred, since he was his parent's oldest son and his grandparent's oldest grandson was more like his father and grandfather than his older sisters. Fred married his wife Hanna and bought a farm on Wolcottsville Rd (see Fred and Hanna's homestead on the main page) when he was 31/32 in 1909/1910. Only 2 miles from his grandfather Frederick and Uncle William's farm, he worked on his farm with his wife and children until he died in 1946. After Fred's death, his widow Hanna, daughter Lena, and granddaughter Gladys lived together on the farm on Wolcottsville Rd according to the 1950 US Census. Before 1926 Hanna worked at the Bewley Canning Co. in Middleport until she became ill. After Fred died Hanna was trapped in her house alone during flooding in 1960. (see Newspaper Articles) Hanna was also the niece of Dena (Tiefel) Raduns (August) Kleinhans. Fred and Hanna had 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
6637 Wolcottsville Rd., built in 1860
Fred and Hanna Jago bought this home around 1909/10 although they likely remodeled it at some point. The house looked essentially the same as above in a 1960 newspaper piece about Hanna being trapped by flooding. Both Fred and Hanna died at home.
