with home
Minnie (Lindke) Jagow's brother John Lindke was married to Minnie's sister-in-law Ella (Jago), and her other brother, Fred Lindke was married to her other sister-in-law Anna (Jago). That means 2 Lindke brothers and a Lindke sister married 2 Jago sisters and a Jago brother making all their children triple first cousins.
John lived on a farm with his mother Wilhelmina and brother Frank after his father died in 1907 until he married Minnie Lindke in 1912. While John and Minnie were living on Orangeport Rd. near Gasport (see John's homestead on the main page), Minnie died unexpectedly in 1920, and their youngest son Albert stayed with his Aunt Martha and Uncle Herman Brown in Newfane for a time. In 1930 John lived with Tena on Orangeport Rd., then married Tena in 1933, and lived in Buffalo, NY for a while although the marriage only lasted 3 years. When he lived in Gasport John worked as a machinist at a Middleport factory. By 1959 his obituary said he was a retired carpenter living in Medina. John and Minnie had 3 children, 21 grandchildren, and over 20 great-grandchildren.
***BUFFALO EVENING NEWS Wednesday, November 4, 1936 -DIVORCE COURT - Supreme Court Justice William J. Hickey today granted default divorces to: - Mrs. Tena Jagow, 722 Linwood Avenue, from John Jagow, to whom she was married Feb 10, 1933.
4230 Orangeport Rd, built in 1853
John and Minnie Jagow lived here after their marriage in 1912 until Minnie died unexpectedly in 1920 leaving 3 children. By 1930 John was living with Tena and in 1933 they married and moved to Buffalo. Three years later they were divorced. John's 1959 obituary gives his address as West Ave, Medina, NY where he lived alone as a retired carpenter.

*** The Niagara Sun, 15 July 1902 ON SIDEPATHS DAMAGED BY FLOODS The Mower is Busy. Likewise the Path Constable. (From Mondays Union-Sun) The heavy storms of last week washed some of the sidepaths badly, but early last week teams and men were set to work and all washouts in the vicinity of Lockport were repaired, and the Middleport and other paths are being placed in shape this week, The sidepath mower is being ran over the East and West Avenue paths today, and will go over the Olcott path tomorrow. Work will be resumed this week on the Falls-Lewiston path. Arrests continue numerous. Four were arrested on the Falls path one day last week and Saturday night John Jago of Wolcottsville was arrested on East Avenue path. Each one gave up five dollars. The total receipts from sale of tags so far this year amount to only about $1200, while there have been paid into the different town treasuries for fines over 600. Jago's father [Ferdinand Jago] gave him 50 cents on July 4th to buy an emblem. He preferred to blow it for firecracks, with the result that Saturday it cost him the price of emblems for ten years. Buy a tag and save trouble and expense.
note- In the early 20th century Lockport and vicinities had sidepaths (bike paths) along certain roads constructed, policed, and maintained by the Niagara County Sidepath Commission. To use the sidepaths bicyclists (wheelmen) were required to buy a 50-cent annual tag/emblem for their wheels or risk being arrested and fined $5 for the offense. The fees and fines were for the upkeep and construction costs of the sidepaths. The East and West Avenue paths mentioned above meant they likely spanned the width of Lockport. The Olcott path mentioned implied it extended some 10 miles north to Olcott, NY. The Falls-Lewiston path suggests it extended to Niagara Falls and Lewiston, NY more than 15 miles to the west. Bicycles had been greatly improved and renewed interest in their use even though most new bicycles were mainly single-speed with coaster brakes. A new Columbia bike could be purchased for $20 to $40 or upwards of $750 today, and a $5 fine was like $180. So how did John Jago age 20 end up in Lockport on a bicycle some 9 miles from home in Wolcottsville on a Saturday night? John may have been visiting one of his sisters, Louise (Jago) Harper or Augusta (Jago) Richardson, who lived less than a mile from East Avenue. It's also unlikely the bike he was riding was his and equally unlikely he had $5 on him.

✞TONAWANDA Local man honors late wife with Christmas Lighting by: Chelsea Lovell Posted: Nov 23, 2022 / 12:35 PM EST https://www.wivb.com/ - Updated: Nov 25, 2022 / 10:40 AM EST TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Ron Murchie lost his wife due to COVID-19 a year ago in September. But now, he is honoring her with something she loved, Christmas lights! Murchie is going all out with the Licht & Murchie Family Christmas Lighting.
“53 years ago we bought this house…my wife, house and I. All those years, she always wanted to do lights outside…and now that she passed away, we wanted to…I wanted to keep doing it, because it meant so much to her,” said Murchie.
His home at 470 Fletcher Ave. in the City of Tonawanda will have thousands of lights and a food trailer selling fries and kettle corn. If weather permits, there will even be a petting zoo!
However, they are asking eventgoers for one thing.
“We are asking for a food donation. If you bring a canned good for the food local food pantry, will give free hot dogs, we have bottles of water, hot chocolate, homemade cutouts and chocolate chip cookies,” said Candace Licht, Ron Murchie’s daughter.
Something very special about this event is that Murchie’s entire family has been involved in helping, including his grandsons.
“I do all the setting up, stringing the lights. He does all the repairs, fixing the lights, make sure everything’s top notch,” said Jeremiah Murchie.
You may be wondering why repairs are needed. Murchie said, “Believe it or not, there’s so many of these things that are out here that he (Jeremiah) actually found in the garbage. He would bring them here. I’d take them inside and redo them, make them over again. So, if people come by and say, ‘I used to have one like that,’ I can say ‘It probably was that one.'”
For the whole family, the joy in this Christmas Lighting is honoring their wife, grandmother, and mother while bringing happiness to others.
Jeremiah says, “It’s definitely hard losing her (his gandmother). By doing this in honor of her, it definitely brings me joy as well. It means a lot to me.”
Police will be there closing off Fletcher Street to Morgan Street in the City of Tonawanda when the event starts at 7 p.m.

Thomas
►Obituary: click to show/hide
✞On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Thomas John Jagow, loving father of Matthew Jagow, passed away at the age of 73.
Tom was born on May 17, 1947 in New York State to Albert Herman Jagow and Evelyn Gertrude (Peggy) Jagow.
After the family moved to Colorado when Tom was 11, his education culminated with a Master degree in Taxation from University of Denver. He initially worked as a CPA in Cortez, Co and later formed a business with his Mother (Peggy) in Aurora, CO before joining the State of Colorado Department of Local Affairs. He later worked for Pitkin, County and Adams School District before returning to work for the state with the Colorado Department of Public Safety up till his retirement in June 2015.
Tom was a quiet, loving, and reserved man. Simple in many things and complex in others. He loved westerns like his particular favorite movie The Magnificent Seven (original), going to baseball games with his son Matt, and trips away from Denver when time allowed. He enjoyed spending time in the Mountains to enjoy nature. Tom was an old soul. He had a great laugh, and enjoyed spending time with Matt talking about life.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Al, his mother Evelyn (Peggy), and his brother Mark Richard Jagow. He is survived by his son, Matt, his brother Jim, his sister Margaret (Maggie), niece and nephew's Zac, Katie, Joe, and Michelle.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 26th, 2020 at Swan-Law Funeral Directors on North Cascade Ave at 10 am to be followed by burial services at Olinger Eastlawn Cemetery in Aurora at 1:30 p.m.

So, Albert and Thomas were possibly in Denver before the rest of the family in 1963.
