FamilySearch - When William Fred Wolter was born on 7 May 1884, in Royalton, Niagara, New York, United States, his father, Frederick Wolter, was 49 and his mother, Fredericka Rachel Schmidt or Smith, was 38. He married Flora Anna Ida Koepsel on 29 April 1905, in Wolcottsville, Niagara, New York, United States. He lived in Lockport, Niagara, New York, United States in 1915. He died on 16 December 1953, in Shelby, Orleans, New York, United States, at the age of 69, and was buried in Royalton, Niagara, New York, United States.
note- After marrying Flora whom he met while living in Royalton, William and his family lived in Lockport on Columbia St while he worked at a flour mill. Their daughter, Bertha, graduated from Lockport High School while living there. By 1930, William and Flora had moved to Stone Rd in Hartland, NY, directly north of Middleport, NY, where they rented a farm.

✞LOCKPORT, N. Y., UNION-SUN & JOURNAL, Monday, June 8, 1964 - Mrs. Wolter, 77, Dies In Medina MIDDLEPORT — Mrs. Flora I. Koepsel Wolter, 77, of West Shelby Road, Medina, died this morning (June 8, 1964) in Medina Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks. She was the widow of William F. Wolter and had always lived in this area. Mrs. Wolter was born May 17, 1887 in the Town of Newstead, the daughter of Henry and Malvina Kleinhans Koepsel. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Medina. A daughter, Bertha Retchless, died in 1941 and her husband died in 1953. Surviving are four sons, Edward Wolter of Wilson, Lester, Raymond and Harold Wolter, all of Medina; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Weber of Wolcottsville; and Mrs. Mabel Pafk of Basom; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one aunt and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday through Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wallace and Heath Funeral Home Inc., 38 State St., and Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Ave., Medina, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Wilbur Lottes, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theater with the Army. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Westcott, of here, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Wolters was born Sept. 14, 1904, the daughter of John and Ella Finley Redner. She was a member of the Women's Republican Club of Lockport and the North Park Parent-Teacher Assn. Besides her husband, Edward H. Wolters, she is survived by four sons, Edward Jr. of Kansas City. Mo.: J. Robert; Donald C. and Carl W.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Boots; and Mary L., all of Lockport, and a sister, Mrs. Mark Singer of Gasport. ✞Charles Bootes Dies, Was Local Promoter Charles J. Bootes Sr., 62, a well-known community volunteer, died Saturday, May 18, 1996, at Lockport Memorial Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born April 15, 1934, in Lockport, he was the son of George and Florence (Eifert) Bootes. A laborer for the city of Lockport for many years until he became disabled, Bootes was active in several community organizations and was instrumental in raising funds for the purchase of equipment for the fire department. He was named "1964 Citizen of the Year" by the Eagles for his charitable accomplishments and work on behalf of St. Mary's Church. He also was instrumental in organizing a benefit for his friend, Jackie Diel, and raised money for Buffalo Children's Hospital and Lockport Youth Football. His charitable work included raising funds for the city's Jaws of Life, rescue car, a blood pressure machine for the rescue car, jackets, portable radios, combat hoses for the fire department, Mercy Flight expenses, assorted hand tools, hack board, and trash bags. He also raised money to benefit local residents Tony Prica, Baby Bitner and the family of Deputy Jeffrey Incardona. Bootes hosted an annual dinner for the priests, nuns and clergyman of the Knights of Columbus, and over the years he ran numerous carnivals for different organizations. Mayor Ken Swan named Oct. 25, 1995 as "Charlie Bootes Day", in recognition of his dedication to the city. On that day, Bootes received the DeWitt Clinton Award from the Lockport Masons. A life-time member of St. Mary's Church, he assisted the priests and organized several events uniting local clergy members. He was a member of Lockport Eagles Aerie 825, where he was Inside Guard, Lockport Council 315, Knights of Columbus and IOOB Club. Surviving are his wife, Helen Wolters Bootes; seven children, Charles J. Bootes Jr., George (Lorrey) Bootes, Deborah Bootes, Kevin Bootes, Tammy Bootes, Jacqueline Bootes, all of Lockport, Kathleen (Charles) Gabrielli of Missouri: 15 grandchildren; his step- mother, Anna Bootes of Lockport; four siblings, Helen (Robert) Barger of Lockport, Robert Bootes of Hamlin, James (Peggy) Bootes of Orlando and Jean Kilburn of Niagara Falls, and a sister-in-law, Mary Bootes of Lockport. ✞Helen M. Bootes passed away March 18, 2018 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on January 8, 1936 in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Redner Wolters. Helen was a bus driver for Ridge Road Express for many years. She was a member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary F.O.E. #825, The Altar and Rosary Society at All Saints Parish, Ladies of Charity, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and The Dale Association. Helen enjoyed bowling, bingo and spending time with her family. Helen is predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Bootes, Sr. who passed away on May 18, 1996. Helen was the mother of Charles J. Bootes, Jr., George (Lorrey) Bootes, Deborah Bootes, Kathleen (Charles) Gabrielli, Tammy (Tom Costello) Weir, Jacqueline Bootes and the late Kevin and Anna Florence. She was the grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 26 and the great-great-grandmother of two. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Helen was predeceased by her son-in-law, James Wier; and her siblings, Donald Wolters, Carl Wolters, Edward Wolters, John Wolters and Mary Lort. ✞Charles J. ‘Chaz’ Bootes III, 45, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on April 3, 2023 at Niagara Hospice House. Born on July 3, 1977 in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of Charles J. Bootes, Jr. and Dora J. (nee Coder) (Edwin L.) Baker. Chaz graduated from LaSalle High School and enjoyed collecting dragons and cars and was an avid dog lover. In addition to his parents and step-father, Chaz is survived by a brother, Sean (Alexandra) Baker; step-sister, Laurie Anne (Charles) Harrington; grandmother, Geraldine (late James) Baker and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born October 19, 1957 in Lockport he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Wolters) Bootes, Sr. George worked for the Lockport Housing Authority in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, and driving his golf cart all over Lockport.

✞Donald C. Wolters passed away Saturday August 8, 2015. Born in Lockport on February 28, 1939, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Anna G. Redner Wolters. Donald worked for New York State in the Canal Division for 12 years and then was a fireman for the Lockport Fire Department for 25 years he retired in 1994. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #617 and was an avid deer hunter. Donald is survived by his wife Lillie M. (nee Starr) Wolters; father of Donald (Cynthia) Wolters Jr. of Midland, GA., and Brian M. (Shannon) Wolters of Carthage, TN.; grandfather of Jose, Alexander,Janelle and Haley Wolters. He is also survived by his sister Helen M. Bootes of Lockport, and several nieces and nephews. Donald is predeceased by his siblings, Edward H. Wolters, Jr., Robert Wolters, Carl Wolters and Mary Wolters Lort; also survived by his step-mother Hester Wolters; step-sisters Kelli Schaeffer, Sussie Basile and his longtime hunting buddy Mike Diehl. He was born in Lockport on December 21, 1945, the son of the late Edward and Anna G. Redner Wolters. He was a retired Custodian from the Wilson Central School District, retiring in 1994 after 27 years of service. He also was a custodian at the Wilson Post Office for a number of years. He was a resident of Briarwood Manor for eight years. He loved to color newsletters for the Briarwood residents and wouldn't miss his afternoon soap operas. He was an avid NYS Lottery player. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and John Wolters; and a sister, Mary Lort. He is survived by his step mother, Hester Wolters; sisters, Helen Bootes and Kelli Wolters Schaffer; and brother, Donald; step-sister of Susan Basile, Christine Austin and Kathy Schaeffer. ✞Kathryn H. Wolter, of Medina, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) in Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was 84. Born Kathryn Gillmeister in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Medina High School. She was employed by Fisher-Price in the molding department, retiring in the early 1980s. Mrs. Wolter was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Court Santa Maria 295, Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed boating, bowling and snowmobiling. Surviving are a son, Gerald of Medina, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Wolter was born March 7, 1941 at Medina Memorial Hospital, a son of the late Lester H. and Kathryn (Gillmeister) Wolter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen (Kalbfliesh) Wolter; children, Laura (late Marty) Abrams, Lisa (David) Smith, Susan (Anthony) Mirrione, Gerald L. Wolter, Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew, Martina and Kiana Abrams and Amanda and Deanna Smith; several sisters and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews. ✞THE JOURNAL-REGISTER Medina, NY Thursday, February 7, 1991 George W. Wolter, 51, of 12459 W. Lee Road, Albion, died Tuesday morning at Medina Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 19, 1939 in the Town of Hartland, son of Kathryn (Gilmeister) Wolter and the late Lester H. Wolter. He had lived in the Medina area most of his life. Mr. Wolter attended the Lutheran Church and had been employed at Harrison Radiator as an inspector, retiring in 1986 due to ill health. He still farmed part-time. He was a former member of Tri-County Radio Club, and enjoyed boating. Survivors include his wife, Donna Wodrich Wolter; his mother, Kathryn Wolter of Medina; two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Thomas (Diane) Andrews, William Wolter, Steven Wolter and Michele Wolter, all of Albion; two grandchildren, O'Brian and Abigail Andrews, both of Albion; one brother, Gerald (Helen) Wolter of Medina; his grandmother, Ruth Gilmeister of Medina; several nieces and nephews, and his father-in-law, Walter Wodrich of Medina. ✞Donna L. Wolter, entered into rest on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the age of 74. Born March 23, 1948 in Medina, Donna was a daughter of the late Walter and Doris (Kams) Wodrich. She attended Medina schools and married George Wolter on October 18, 1965. She worked at Fisher-Price Toys and for BernzOmatic in Medina for many years. Donna also worked as a home healthcare aid. Donna enjoyed listening to country music. A kind and tender person, Donna loved her family dearly. Raising and caring for her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life. They will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her husband, George Wolter in 1991; infant son, Michael Wolter in 1971; longtime companion, Purcil Buzard in 2017; and siblings, Earl, Leo and Raymond Wodrich.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane (late Thomas) Andrews of Virginia Beach, VA, William (Julie) Wolter of Medina, Steven (Megan) Wolter of Medina and Michele Golden of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, O’Brian and Abigail Andrews, Mitchell (Emma) Wolter, Michael Hinkley, Andrew and Matthew Wolter, Elizabeth and Brianna Golden; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Evan Brabon and Rowan Tetrault; siblings, Shirley (Walker) Capstick and Gerald (late Beatrice) Wodrich; several nieces and nephews.

Wolter, 68, of 901 Church St., died Wednesday evening at Roswell Park Memorial Park Institute, Buffalo, after a short illness. He was born Nov. 7, 1912, in Lockport, the son of the late William and Flora (Koepsel) Wolter. Mr. Wolter came to the Medina area in 1943. He had worked for FMC Corp. in Middleport, for 32 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Medina, the Orleans County Civil Defense Unit, and the TriCounty Radio Club. ✞THE JOURNAL-REGISTER Medina, NY Thursday, June 23, 1988 - Harold G. Wolter, 69, of 1002 Gwinn St., died Wednesday afternoon at Medina Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born Nov. 30, 1918 in Lockport, his parents were the late William and Flora (Koesple) Wolter. He had lived in the Medina area most of his life and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Medical. Mr. Wolter had worked at Abex in Medina as a foreman for 29 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Medina, and had served on the board of directors of the church. He was a former chapter chairman of the Medina Chapter of the American Red Cross and was the present blood bank chairman. He was a member of the American Legion in Medina and the Busy Buddies of Lyndonville. He was active in camping and enjoyed wood crafting. His first wife, Mildred (Wollenberg) died Nov. 24, 1972. Survivors include his wife, Electa Ullrich (Houserman) Wolter; one son, Gary (Shirley) Wolter of Middleport; one daughter, Mrs, Paul (Patricia) Fuller of Medina; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Cathy) Joynt of Medina, and one stepson, Kim (Ruth) Houserman of Medina; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Shelby Road was killed Friday night when the car she was driving ran into a section of road sparsely covered by slush according to Orleans County Sheriff's deputies, the car apparently left the west side of Rt. 63 and struck a tree against the driver's side. Mrs. Wolter was dead on arrival at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was employed at G. C. Murphy Co. variety store here, and was going home from work when the accident occurred. Born Aug. 18, 1923 at Gasport, she was a daughter of Edward and Jennie (Smith) Wollenberg. Mrs. Wolter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Service Guild, and the Monday Night Bowling League. Surviving are her husband, Harold; a daughter and son, Mrs. W. Saturday, November 25, 1972 - Medina Woman, 49, Killed In Crash MEDINA — A Medina woman was killed Friday night when the car she was driving left Rt. 63 in the Town of Shelby and struck a tree. Dead is: Mrs. Mildred R Wolter, 49, of W. Shelby Road, Medina. Orleans County sheriff's deputies said today she was driving her husband's car at 9:24 p.m., when the vehicle ran into a section of road sparsely covered with slush. The section, about 500 feet north of Ryan Road, had been sanded about 5:15 p.m. by the Orleans County Highways Department. Deputies said the Wolter car apparently left the west side of Rt. 63 and struck the tree against the driver's side. They theorized Mrs. Wolter applied brakes in the slush. She was pinned inside the vehicle and members of the Shelby Fire Department worked to free her. After being taken by Medina Ambulance to Medina Memorial Hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival. Born on September 23, 1942 in Middleport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Wollenburg) Walter. Patricia graduated from Medina High School in 1959 and in 1962, she married W. Paul Fuller, together making their home in West Shelby. She worked for various places including, G.C. Murphy’s, Jubilee, and Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, Terry “Elvis” Buchwald, traveling, but most of all she enjoyed time with her family. She is survived by her former husband, Paul Fuller of Shelby, two sons, Kevin (Mary) Fuller of Middleport and Daniel (Susan) Fuller of Medina. She was a very loving grandmother of Joseph Moltrup, Zachary, Grace and Abby Fuller, all of Medina and Jayne’ Keller of Tonawanda and a great-granddaughter, Geonna. A brother, Gary (Shirley)-Patricia’s best friend, Walter of Middleport. A close cousin, Alroy (Gail) Fuller of Middleport and many nieces and nephews. ✞W. Paul Fuller, 84, of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Hospice Care Unit at Buffalo General Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. Born on April 2, 1939 in Shelby, NY, he was the son of the late E. Laverne and Dorothy Anne (Puff) Fuller. Paul was the youngest of six children and grew up on the family farm and sawmill on Shelby Basin Rd in Medina. He graduated from Medina High School in 1957 and served in the National Guard Unit in Medina for six years. In 1962 Paul married the late former Patricia M. Wolter and together they raised two sons in West Shelby. Paul worked at the Shelby Highway Department for nine years and lastly for Harrison Radiator until his retirement. He was a volunteer fireman for the Shelby Fire Company. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing gardening, and camping. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankee’s fan. Most of all, he loved his family and will be remembered as a loving, funny and dedicated Father, Brother, Husband, Uncle and Grandpa. Paul is survived by his two sons, Dan (Sue) Fuller, Kevin (Mary) Fuller, grandchildren, Zach, Joe, Grace, and Abby, two sisters, Dottie (Ed) Hellwig, Betty Menz, a brother-in-law, Gary (Shirley) Wolter and many nieces, nephews and faithful companion, Tuffy.
