✞James T. Hoste passed away July 2, 2025. Born May 23, 1944 in Lockport he was the son of Kenneth L. and Helen G. (Weber) Hoste. James worked in production for Corson Manufacturing in Lockport and then worked for United Healthcare Products. He was a band member of the Bergholtz German Band, the Lockport Community Band, and Barker Community Band. James is survived by his wife Judith (Bohnstadt) whom he married in 1978; his children Gregory Hoste, Tammy Hoste, Allen Hoste, and Cheryl May; grandchildren Christina (Christopher) Osborne, Jonathon (Sarah) Hoste, Allen John Hoste, Michael Hoste, and Tyler May; great grandchild Elijah Osborne; and sister Sharon Hoste. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Monday, July 7th from 11 AM – 1 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 PM. ✞George R. Bootes passed away November 30, 2023 in Niagara Hospice House. Born October 19, 1957 in Lockport he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Wolters) Bootes, Sr. George worked for the Lockport Housing Authority in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, and driving his golf cart all over Lockport.
George is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lorrey (Birdsall) Bootes; children Jennifer (Jim) Braddell, Eric (Amanda) Bootes, Daniel (Sara) Bootes and Brandon Bootes; grandchildren Tyler, Carter, Hunter, Sophie, Olivia, Lincoln, Giana, Harper, Aidan, Maddie, and Scarlett; siblings Deborah Bootes, Kathleen (Charles) Gabrielli, Tammy Weir, Jacqueline (Malcolm) Robertson, and late Charles Jr. and Kevin Bootes; also mother-in-law Joanne Birdsall, several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and several dear friends at the Lockport Housing Authority.

✞Charles "Joe" Bootes Jr. entered into rest August 25, 2023 at the Niagara Hospice house. Born June 25, 1956 in Lockport, he was the son Charles J and Helen Marie (Wolters) Bootes Sr. Bootes was a Nomad in the Kingsmen motorcycle club, also owned and operated his own garage.
Beloved father of Michelle Ward, Shannon (Jermaine) Kimmons, Jamie Bootes and the late Charles (Joseph) Bootes III and Tiffany Elizabeth Bootes. Cherished grandfather of Rhianna, Liandra, Samantha and Adelynn. Great grandfather of Carter, Kendall and Carson. Dear brother of George (Lorrey) Bootes, Deborah "Bubba" Bootes, Kathleen (Charles) Gabrielli, Tammy Weir, Jacqueline (Malcolm) Robertson and the late Kevin Bootes. Predeceased by fiance' Cathy Carpenter. Dear friend and club brother of Brian (Kathleen) Frank.

✞Patricia M. Fuller, 70, of Medina, NY, entered into rest at the Medina Memorial Hospital on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Born on September 23, 1942 in Middleport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Wollenburg) Walter. Patricia graduated from Medina High School in 1959 and in 1962, she married W. Paul Fuller, together making their home in West Shelby. She worked for various places including, G.C. Murphy’s, Jubilee, and Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, Terry “Elvis” Buchwald, traveling, but most of all she enjoyed time with her family. She is survived by her former husband, Paul Fuller of Shelby, two sons, Kevin (Mary) Fuller of Middleport and Daniel (Susan) Fuller of Medina. She was a very loving grandmother of Joseph Moltrup, Zachary, Grace and Abby Fuller, all of Medina and Jayne’ Keller of Tonawanda and a great-granddaughter, Geonna. A brother, Gary (Shirley)-Patricia’s best friend, Walter of Middleport. A close cousin, Alroy (Gail) Fuller of Middleport and many nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the First Universalist Church of Middleport, corner of Main and Church St, Middleport, NY 14105 at 11:00 AM with the Pastor, Rev. ✞W. Paul Fuller, 84, of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Hospice Care Unit at Buffalo General Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. Born on April 2, 1939 in Shelby, NY, he was the son of the late E. Laverne and Dorothy Anne (Puff) Fuller. Paul was the youngest of six children and grew up on the family farm and sawmill on Shelby Basin Rd in Medina. He graduated from Medina High School in 1957 and served in the National Guard Unit in Medina for six years. In 1962 Paul married the late former Patricia M. Wolter and together they raised two sons in West Shelby. Paul worked at the Shelby Highway Department for nine years and lastly for Harrison Radiator until his retirement. He was a volunteer fireman for the Shelby Fire Company. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing gardening, and camping. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankee’s fan. Most of all, he loved his family and will be remembered as a loving, funny and dedicated Father, Brother, Husband, Uncle and Grandpa. Paul is survived by his two sons, Dan (Sue) Fuller, Kevin (Mary) Fuller, grandchildren, Zach, Joe, Grace, and Abby, two sisters, Dottie (Ed) Hellwig, Betty Menz, a brother-in-law, Gary (Shirley) Wolter and many nieces, nephews and faithful companion, Tuffy. Besides his parents, and wife, Paul is predeceased by his siblings, Bud (Doris) Fuller, Bob (Barb Allen) Fuller, Barb (Merle) Draper and a brother-in-law, Bill Menz. ✞Charles J. ‘Chaz’ Bootes III, 45, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on April 3, 2023 at Niagara Hospice House. Born on July 3, 1977 in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of Charles J. Bootes, Jr. and Dora J. (nee Coder) (Edwin L.) Baker. Chaz graduated from LaSalle High School and enjoyed collecting dragons and cars and was an avid dog lover. In addition to his parents and step-father, Chaz is survived by a brother, Sean (Alexandra) Baker; step-sister, Laurie Anne (Charles) Harrington; grandmother, Geraldine (late James) Baker and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

✞THE JOURNAL-REGISTER Medina, NY Thursday, February 7, 1991 George W. Wolter, 51, of 12459 W. Lee Road, Albion, died Tuesday morning at Medina Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 19, 1939 in the Town of Hartland, son of Kathryn (Gilmeister) Wolter and the late Lester H. Wolter. He had lived in the Medina area most of his life. Mr. Wolter attended the Lutheran Church and had been employed at Harrison Radiator as an inspector, retiring in 1986 due to ill health. He still farmed part-time. He was a former member of Tri-County Radio Club, and enjoyed boating. Survivors include his wife, Donna Wodrich Wolter; his mother, Kathryn Wolter of Medina; two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Thomas (Diane) Andrews, William Wolter, Steven Wolter and Michele Wolter, all of Albion; two grandchildren, O'Brian and Abigail Andrews, both of Albion; one brother, Gerald (Helen) Wolter of Medina; his grandmother, Ruth Gilmeister of Medina; several nieces and nephews, and his father-in-law, Walter Wodrich of Medina. ✞Donna L. Wolter, entered into rest on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the age of 74. Born March 23, 1948 in Medina, Donna was a daughter of the late Walter and Doris (Kams) Wodrich. She attended Medina schools and married George Wolter on October 18, 1965. She worked at Fisher-Price Toys and for BernzOmatic in Medina for many years. Donna also worked as a home healthcare aid. Donna enjoyed listening to country music. A kind and tender person, Donna loved her family dearly. Raising and caring for her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life. They will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her husband, George Wolter in 1991; infant son, Michael Wolter in 1971; longtime companion, Purcil Buzard in 2017; and siblings, Earl, Leo and Raymond Wodrich.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane (late Thomas) Andrews of Virginia Beach, VA, William (Julie) Wolter of Medina, Steven (Megan) Wolter of Medina and Michele Golden of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, O’Brian and Abigail Andrews, Mitchell (Emma) Wolter, Michael Hinkley, Andrew and Matthew Wolter, Elizabeth and Brianna Golden; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Evan Brabon and Rowan Tetrault; siblings, Shirley (Walker) Capstick and Gerald (late Beatrice) Wodrich; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 21 from 1:00-3:00pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, with her funeral immediately to follow at 3pm. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

✞Helen M. Bootes passed away March 18, 2018 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on January 8, 1936 in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Redner Wolters. Helen was a bus driver for Ridge Road Express for many years. She was a member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary F.O.E. #825, The Altar and Rosary Society at All Saints Parish, Ladies of Charity, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and The Dale Association. Helen enjoyed bowling, bingo and spending time with her family. Helen is predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Bootes, Sr. who passed away on May 18, 1996. Helen was the mother of Charles J. Bootes, Jr., George (Lorrey) Bootes, Deborah Bootes, Kathleen (Charles) Gabrielli, Tammy (Tom Costello) Weir, Jacqueline Bootes and the late Kevin and Anna Florence. She was the grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 26 and the great-great-grandmother of two. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Helen was predeceased by her son-in-law, James Wier; and her siblings, Donald Wolters, Carl Wolters, Edward Wolters, John Wolters and Mary Lort. ✞Mildred Knights, beloved and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at Orchard Manor Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 100+.
She was born in the Town of Royalton to the late Gustave and Alma (Koepsel) Lindke. Her humble, caring, loving, sincere ways and humor were felt by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Mildred married Melvin Pritchard on June 20, 1935 and they farmed on the Swett Road until his death on July 24, 1974. On Nov. 4, 1977 she married Melvin’s best friend, Edmund Knights and they enjoyed retirement together until his death April 18, 1999.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, James (Janet) Pritchard; daughter, Nancy (late Sidney, Jr.) Riches; sister in-law, Shirley (late Robert) Lindke; grandchildren, Ellen Pritchard, Carol (Jeff) Reitz, Debra (Ronald) Breed, Shari (Michael) Little, James (Stephanie) Riches, Linda (Alex) Lonnen; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jackson Reitz, Nichole (Jeremy) Howell, Lindsey Breed, Drew, Kyle and Ryan Little, Rebecca and Jonathan Riches; great-great-grandson, Nathaniel Howell; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Barbara Clark, Katherine Knights and Kenneth (Mary) Knights and their families.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medina and its Friendly Circle Class, Senior Citizens of Western Orleans, Sewing Club and Orleans Orbits Square Dance Club.

✞MEDINA JOURNAL-REGISTER FRIDAY, JULY 12, 1974 M. L. Pritchard Succumbs At Age 62 - Melvin L. Pritchard, 62, of 2681 Swett Rd. [built in 1870], died early this morning at Medina Memorial Hospital. Mr. Pritchard was born in Lyndonville April 9, 1912, the son of the late William and Alice Albone Pritchard. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Medina and had been employed for 19 years at Simonds Saw and Steel Div., Lockport. Surviving are his widow, Mildred Lindky Pritchard; one son, James of Medina; one daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Nancy) Riches of Medina; five grand- daughters, and one grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Winifred) Mason and Mrs. Fred (Mabel) Bell both of Medina; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call starting Saturday (2-5, 7-9) at the Barnes Tuttle Funeral Home Inc., 226 Pearl St., where funeral ser- vices will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with burial in Bates Rd., Cemetery. ✞Edmund W. Knights, owned farm - MEDINA - Edmund W Knights, 84, of Knowlesville, died Sunday, April 18, at Medina Memorial Health Care Facility. Born Dec. 31, 1914 in the Town of Ridgeway, he was the son of William and Margaret (Waterfield) Knights. In 1938, he married Viola Morris, and the Knights were lifelong residents of the Knowlesville area. A farmer, Mr. Knights owned and operated Knights farm in Knowlesville since 1938. He was a member of Agway, American Stabilization Committee and was a former chairman of the Farm Bureau. He was an active member of the former Knowlesville Presbyterian Church and the Senior Citizens of Western Orleans, Inc., where he served as president for one term.
His first wife died on May 20, 1974. On Nov. 6, 1977, he married Mildred (Lindke) Pritchard. Mr. Knights loved to play cards and wintered in Florida. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Clark of Medina and Kathryn Knights of Buffalo; a son, Kenneth (Mary Lee) Knights of Knowlesville; a step-son, James (Janet) Pritchard of Medina, a step-daughter, Nancy (Sid) Riches of Medina; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a sister, Alice (Roland) Martin of Shelby and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, former New York State Assemblyman William C. Knights. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center St., Medina. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, 203 West Center St., Medina. Interment will be in Mount Albion Cemetery.

✞Beatrice (Bea) Vera Eick, 89, born July 25, 1927, went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2016 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. A loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma, she was a godly woman who served others and lived out her faith. She was predeceased in death by her parents, John and Malvina (Vinnie) Schultz of Reynolds Basin, Royalton and her two brothers, Norman and Donald.
A 1945 graduate of Royalton-Hartland High School, Bea is survived by the love of her life and husband of 68 years, LaVerne Eick, a retired dairy farmer from Freeman Rd, Medina. They met through the Walter League youth group at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville and later became charter members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport. Bea was an active member of the altar guild, bible studies, a Sunday School and VBS teacher, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Throughout their marriage, Bea was a strong supporter and helpmate on the family dairy farm. She loved to be around and host family and friends at their home. Bea enjoyed traveling to Virginia, Colorado and Oregon to visit family. She enjoyed travelling to Florida after retirement and made a special trip to Germany in 2002 with the Middleport Community Choir, making lifelong friendships.
She is survived by 5 children, William (Patricia) of Medina, Lee (Vicki) of Albany, Oregon, Patricia (Mike) Bielicki of Medina, Kenneth (Kelly) of Medina, and Connie (Jeff) Holt of Montclair, Virginia. She is also blessed by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

✞LaVerne Avery Eick, 88, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2016 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Born April 7, 1928 to Avery and Helene (Schilling) Eick he was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and godly man who served others and lived out his faith. He was predeceased in death by his parents, a sister, Ethel Eick Button of Dansville and on August 6, 2016, his loving wife of 68 years, Beatrice.
A 1946 graduate of Royalton-Hartland High School, LaVerne retired after years of being an active partner of LaVerne Eick and Sons Dairy Farm on Freeman Road, Medina. He and his wife met through the Walther League youth group at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville and later became charter members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport. LaVerne was a member of the building committee of Holy Cross and served in various rolls through the years including President of the Congregation and Elder.
Together he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Virginia, Colorado and Oregon to visit family. They enjoyed extended travels to Florida after retirement and in 2002 made a special trip to Germany with the Middleport Community Choir, making lifelong friendships.
During his years of farming LaVerne enjoyed his positions on the Town of Shelby Assessment Review Board and as Director of Niagara Milk Cooperative and the Orleans County A.S.C.S. Committee.
He is survived by 5 children, William (Patricia) of Medina, Lee (Victoria) of Albany, Oregon, Patricia (Mike)Bielicki of Medina, Kenneth (Kelly) of Medina and Connie (Jeffrey) Holt of Montclair, Virginia. He was also blessed by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Middleport on Wednesday, December 21st with viewing from 10 -11 AM and the Service following at 11 AM. Robert was a 1949 graduate of Akron High School. He was a former co-owner of E & R. Machine in Gasport, NY and had also worked at Friend Manufacturing Company in Gasport. He married Shirley Gaskill August 7, 1954 at Covenant United Church of Christ in Gasport where he was an active member.
Surviving Robert is his wife: Shirley (Gaskill) Lindke and children: Barbara Lindke of Bartlett, TN and Douglas (Jacque) Lindke of Webster, NY. Dear grandfather of: Alexandra Lindke and Matthew Lindke. Robert is also survived by a sister: Mildred Knights and predeceased by siblings: Earl and Patricia Wagner and Jeanette and Vincent Biasell. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Robert.

Shirley was married to Robert Gustave Lindke on August 7, 1954. Robert died November 28, 2015. She was a lifelong active member of the Covenant United Church of Christ. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid Buffalo Sabres fan.
Surviving are her children: Douglas (Jacque) Lindke and Barbara Lindke. Grandmother of: Alexandra (Ian) and Matthew Lindke. Sister of the late: Stuart Gaskill. Sister-in-law of: Carol Hussey. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Donald worked for New York State in the Canal Division for 12 years and then was a fireman for the Lockport Fire Department for 25 years he retired in 1994. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #617 and was an avid deer hunter. Donald is survived by his wife Lillie M. (nee Starr) Wolters; father of Donald (Cynthia) Wolters Jr. of Midland, GA., and Brian M. (Shannon) Wolters of Carthage, TN.; grandfather of Jose, Alexander,Janelle and Haley Wolters. He is also survived by his sister Helen M. Bootes of Lockport, and several nieces and nephews. ✞Denise Marie (Davis) Withey, 51, passed away peacefully after a courageous fight for life surrounded by her loving family at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY, on Friday, February 27, 2015. Denise (Dee) was born on May 25, 1963, in Medina to Lowell and Eleanor (Schultz) Davis.
She graduated from Medina High School in 1981 and attended Niagara County Community College before becoming employed at Permanent Savings Bank in Lockport, NY for several years and was also a Mary Kay Sales Consultant. She married the love of her life Gary Withey on August 1, 1987. In January 1995 Gary and Denise purchased Fischer’s News Stand in Albion, NY where she worked alongside Gary until September 2005 when she accepted a position as Community Relations Specialist at The ARC of Orleans County where she continued to work until her passing.
Dee was active in 4-H during her youth and performed with the Medina Mustang Marching Band. She was active as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving previously as a Sunday school teacher, a board member and on the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed music, dancing, NASCAR, reading crime novels, watching true crime shows and cooking shows and spending time with family and friends.
Denise is survived by her husband of 27 years, Gary; daughters, Allyson (Nick Fitch) Withey and Kelsie Withey; parents, Lowell and Eleanor Davis all of Medina, NY; sisters, Amy Davis of St. Petersburg, FL and Angie Davis of Holley, NY; niece and goddaughter, Melanie (AJ Gminski) Gemerek of Holley, NY; sister-in-law, Barbara Withey Williams of Sun City, FL; brother-in-laws, David Lonnen of Medina, NY; Carl (MaryBeth) Withey of Elbridge, NY; Mark (Debbie) Withey of Lakeland, FL; Kurt (Debbie) Withey of Albion, NY; Eric (Georgia) Withey of Spencerport, NY; aunts, Shirley Peters of Irondequoit, NY and Carol (Vincent) Meli of Silver Lake, NY; and many close dear friends.

✞Joyce Elaine Schultz Monell A resident of Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Medina, N.Y. was taken to the Lord on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 following a long illness and most recent battle with cancer.
Joyce was born February 27, 1945 in Lockport, NY daughter to the late Norman w. and Sylvia M. (Hendricks) Schultz.
She was a life-long resident of Medina, a graduate of the class of l963 and she was employed at Blissett's Specialty Store and she later worked as a secretary at Royalton-Hartland Central School.
She is survived by her former husband, James R. Monell.
Upon child-rearing Joyce was a stay at home mother to three loving children surviving are Thomas Monell of Medina, Kimberly Monell Schroeder of Medina, Kristine (Randy) Monell Vakiener of Florida and a special daughter-in-law Michele Stone Monell.
Joyce's grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Surviving include 8 grandchildren Lacy (William) Gray, Kevin (Brandi) Monell, Cory Monell, Anthony Monell, Michael T. Schroeder, Nicholas Schroeder, Kassidy Vakiener, Austin Vakiiener and four great grandchildren Logan Gray, Lex Gray, Liam Regling, Sophia Monell.
Joyce is survivied by a loving and caring sister Eleanor (Lowell) Davis including nieces, predeceased by niece Jennifer Davis Lonnen. Also surviving is one brother-in-law Jack (Sue) Monell including nephew and nieces. She was predeceased by father and mother-in-law Ronald and Eleanor Monell.

✞Jennifer Sue Davis-Lonnen, 41, passed away peacefully after a courageous fight for life at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, Buffalo, NY, on Thursday, December 30, 2010 with her husband, family and friends by her side. Jen was born on September 19, 1969, in Lockport to Lowell and Eleanor (Schultz) Davis. She graduated from Medina High School in 1987, received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Speech and Hearing Pathology from SUNY Buffalo and was a member of SUNY Buffalo Alumni. She was employed as a Speech Pathologist at Niagara County Speech and Hearing since 1994. She married David Lonnen on October 21, 1995.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and more recently attended East Shelby Community Bible Church.
Jen prearranged to donate her body to SUNY Buffalo Medical Research Center for Multiple Sclerosis research. She had courageously fought her battle with MS for 23 Years. He was born in Lockport on December 21, 1945, the son of the late Edward and Anna G. Redner Wolters. He was a retired Custodian from the Wilson Central School District, retiring in 1994 after 27 years of service. He also was a custodian at the Wilson Post Office for a number of years. He was a resident of Briarwood Manor for eight years. He loved to color newsletters for the Briarwood residents and wouldn't miss his afternoon soap operas. He was an avid NYS Lottery player. She was born in Lockport, March 13, 1916, daughter of the late Carlos and Leah (Stride) Campbell. She worked in the 4-H office at the Niagara County Cooperative Extension for several years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, a member of the Ladies Aid of St. Michael's, and a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. A son, David Schultz, died in 1964. Wife of Donald F. Schultz, she is survived by one son, Richard J Schultz of Medina; one daughter, Mrs. James (Donna) Crumlish of London, Ontario; two grandchildren, Timothy and Thomas Crumlish; a sister, Mrs. Kelsey (Helen) Pechuman of Gasport; and a brother, Russell Campbell of California. ✞S. Isabelle Schultz (Bauer) (King), 100, of Middleport died Sept. 30, 2021 while at the Supportive Care of Orleans Martin Linsin Hospice Residence in Albion. She was born April 16, 1921 in the Town of Hartland to James and Annie (Annable) Noble and was a life-long resident of this area.
Isabelle was a 70-year member of the Middleport United Methodist Church where she chaired the Harvest Dinner for over 30 years. She was an expert knitter, having taught knitting at the Niagara County Cooperative Extension for many years. She shared that talent with the community by making countless premie caps, lap robes, hats and mittens for hospitals and charities over the years. Isabelle was also a member of the Middleport and Johnson Creek Senior Citizen groups, as well as being a life member and volunteer driver for Tri Town Ambulance.
Mrs. Schultz was predeceased by husbands: Emory Bauer, Robert King, Donald Schultz; daughter, Diane (Bauer) Grove; brothers: Walter, Donald and Frank Noble; and sisters: Lulla Timblin and Daryl Wobbes.
She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Bauer, William (Mary Jane) Bauer, Susan Webber, Sharon Kusmierczak, Steven (Susan) King; sister, Betty Lockie; son-in-law, Ted Grove; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, Tue., Oct. 5 from 1-3 p.m. where her funeral service will be held following visitation at 3 p.m. Private interment will be in Hartland Cemetery. ✞Sullivan County Democrat May 7, 2002 Lucille S. Pantel Retired Teacher, 79 - Lucille Schalge Pantel of South Fallsburg, a retired home economics teacher, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center from complications due to cancer. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Dora and Albert Schalge, she was born September 24, 1922, on the family dairy farm in Akron, N.Y. She was the widow of Harold C. Pantel.
Mrs. Pantel was a graduate of State Teachers College in Buffalo and taught home economics in schools in Fallsburg and Ellenville. She attended Columbia Teachers College at Columbia University and received her master's degree in 1966.
Of the many honors she has received, Mrs. Pantel was named the RSVP 2001 Sullivan County Town of Fallsburg Senior of the Year. She was a past member of the Fallsburg Central School Board, a member of the Sullivan County Board of Cooperative Educational Services, a charter member and volunteer of the Fallsburg Reading Room, a member of the Town of Fallsburg Library, a member of the American Association of University Women and a charter member of the Town of Fallsburg Lioness Club.
Mrs. Pantel was also a member of the Town of Fallsburg Lions, a member of the Fallsburg PTA, a member of the New York State United Teachers Association and the American Federation of Teachers. She was a member of the Fallsburg-Woodbourne Chapter of Hadassah, the B'nai B'rith Women, the Calico Geese Quilters, the Sullivan County Historical Society, the Catskill Art Society and a member of the Phi Delta Kappa International.
She was also a member of the Jewish Women International, a Boy Scout leader and a den mother, a Fallsburg Little League coach, a volunteer of transportation for seniors, a County Fair Home Economics judge, a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension and a founding board member of Sullivan County Head Start.
Renowned for her cooking and needlecraft skills, Mrs. Pantel particularly enjoyed preparing hearty meals for her large family and many friends. She was an avid traveler in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and many foreign countries.
Mrs. Pantel is survived by four sons, A.J. Pantel and his wife, Karin, of Thompsonville, Ray S. Pantel of Greenville, Robert C. Pantel of Windsor, Vt., and Timothy S. Pantel and his wife, Robin, of South Fallsburg; ten grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Jennifer, of Rock Hill, Shannon of Alexandria, Va., Joshua of Bellvue, Wash., Zachary of Thompsonville, Alexa of Godeffroy, Braelin and Haddon of Windsor, Vt. and Jenna, Austin and Brendon of South Fallsburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Haddon C. Pantel. Funeral services were held Monday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial was made in the Workmen's Circle Cemetery in Glen Wild. ✞MEDINA — The Rev. Wayne Jon Pafk, 54, of Canyon, Texas, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001. Born Feb. 25, 1947 in Medina, he was the son of Glenn and Roberta Pafk. The Rev. Pafk began his studies to become a pastor at Concordia University at Ann Arbor. He went on to receive his masters of divinity in 1973 at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. His 28-year ministry began in Rockdale, Texas, and spanned across the state from Rockport to Lubbock. He was an avid volunteer for such groups as the Lion's Club, the American Cancer Society in Rockport, Hospice Amarillo. He also served on the school improvement committee in Lago Vista. At the time of his death, the Rev. Pafk was serving Shepherd King Lutheran Church in Lubbock. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Alta Pafk; a daughter, Heather Pafk, of Round Rock; a son, Jon (Michelle) Pafk, of Austin; his parents, Glenn and Roberta Pafk, of Akron; three brothers, Marvin Pafk, of Akron, Doug Pafk, of Medina, and Dale Pafk, of Honolulu, Hawaii; and a sister, Peggy Glasser, of Bethel Park, Pa. There were no calling hours. Services were Monday, Aug. 13, 2001 at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be Aug. 15, 2001 at Shepherd King Lutheran Church in Lubbock, and at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2001 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. The Rev. Born March 14, 1921 at Clarence, he was a son of Mrs. Anna Harch Hoste and the late John Hoste. For many years he had been employed as a supervisor at the National Gypsum Co. at Akron. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Clarence and Wolcottsville Volunteer Fire Co.

He was a member of the Benevolent Association of the Wolcottsville and Terrys Corners fire companies. He also was a member of the Wolcottsville Band and at one time had his own dance band. His wife, Eleanor E. Dennis Weber, died in 1996. ✞Anchorage Daily News April 9, 1997 Longtime Alaska resident Homer S. Thompson, 77, died April 3, 1997, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer. A memorial service was at Faith Lutheran Church in Homer. The Rev. Dennis J. Neels officiated.
Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Buffalo, N.Y. He was raised in Buffalo and Los Angeles. Mr. Thompson was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Los Angeles and the Frank Wiggins Trade School. Mr. Thompson served 11 years with the Army Air Force and the U.S. Air Force at various locations, including six years of service in Alaska. Mr. Thompson came to Alaska in 1946 while in the military. He resigned from the Air Force to come back to Alaska after part of a year's service outside Alaska. He and his family moved to Homer in 1953. His initial employment was as manager for the local government, where he served for seven years. Subsequently, he was the first Realtor in Homer and was an officer of the State Association of Realtors. His family wrote: ''Homer was a loner in most of his endeavors to bring benefits to the community of Homer. He was a charter member of the Homer Elks Lodge, and founder of the Homer Winter Carnival and Homer Society of Natural History. He also served as an officer in the Homer Fair Association and the Democratic precinct and was probably best-known for his unceasing efforts to build the Bradley Lake hydroelectric project. Friends estimate that in the course of his years in Homer, he managed almost single-handedly to obtain close to $500 million in government appropriations for public works projects in Homer.''
He is survived by his wife, Frances of Homer; daughters, Jacquelyn Cox and Bonnie Marie Stark; sons, Robert T. Thompson and Charles R.S. Thompson; and a grandchild, Andrew Thompson. ✞Glenn E. Schalge, 79, Carlson Drive, Stanton, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at United Memorial Hospital. He was born April 22, 1917, in Akron, N.Y., the son of Albert and Dora Kleinhans Schalge. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a deep sea diver. He graduated from Tri State University, Angola, Ind., and worked as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1982. He moved to Stanton with his wife, the former Evelyn M. Timm, whom he married Sept, 26, 1942. Glenn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the choir of the church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Elaine Schalge of Alma; three grandchildren, Melissa of Lansing, Rebecca of Big Rapids, Andre of Alma; two brothers and sisters-in law, Fay and Kay of Loveland, Colo., Philip and Charon of Chula Vista, Calif.; one sister, Lucille Pantel of South Fallsburg, N.Y.; his wife's four sisters; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Greenville, with Pastor James Foster officiating. ✞Evelyn May Schalge, 87, of Alma [Michigan], passed away Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Gratiot Community Hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Jones, the daughter of Clarence and Florabelle Timm. She graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1933 and attended Battle Creek Nursing School. She graduated in 1938 from Minneapolis School of Medicine with a degree in Medical Technology. She married Glenn Schalge on Sept. 26, 1942 in Constantine. She worked for hospitals in Chicago and Jackson, and retired from Mt. Sanai Hospital in Livonia. In 1983 she and her husband retired to Stanton and after her husband's death moved to Alma in 1997. She also wintered in Lake Worth, Fla. for many years. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alma and a member of the Society of Registered Medical Technologists.

✞THE JOURNAL-REGISTER Medina, NY Thursday, June 23, 1988 - Harold G. Wolter, 69, of 1002 Gwinn St., died Wednesday afternoon at Medina Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born Nov. 30, 1918 in Lockport, his parents were the late William and Flora (Koesple) Wolter. He had lived in the Medina area most of his life and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Medical. Mr. Wolter had worked at Abex in Medina as a foreman for 29 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Medina, and had served on the board of directors of the church. He was a former chapter chairman of the Medina Chapter of the American Red Cross and was the present blood bank chairman. He was a member of the American Legion in Medina and the Busy Buddies of Lyndonville. He was active in camping and enjoyed wood crafting. His first wife, Mildred (Wollenberg) died Nov. 24, 1972. Survivors include his wife, Electa Ullrich (Houserman) Wolter; one son, Gary (Shirley) Wolter of Middleport; one daughter, Mrs, Paul (Patricia) Fuller of Medina; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Cathy) Joynt of Medina, and one stepson, Kim (Ruth) Houserman of Medina; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Wolter will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow from Trinity Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. Wilbur Lottes officiating. Mrs. Wolter, 49, of W. Shelby Road was killed Friday night when the car she was driving ran into a section of road sparsely covered by slush according to Orleans County Sheriff's deputies, the car apparently left the west side of Rt. 63 and struck a tree against the driver's side. Mrs. Wolter was dead on arrival at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was employed at G. C. Murphy Co. variety store here, and was going home from work when the accident occurred. Born Aug. 18, 1923 at Gasport, she was a daughter of Edward and Jennie (Smith) Wollenberg. Mrs. Wolter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Service Guild, and the Monday Night Bowling League. Surviving are her husband, Harold; a daughter and son, Mrs. W. ✞MEDINA — Mrs. Sylvia M. Schultz, 93, of Medina passed away Saturday (Jan. 2, 2010) at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Medina. Mrs. Schultz was born in the town of Royalton May 3, 1916, a daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Seymor) Handrich. She was employed at Harrison Radiator for five years, White Brothers Rose Corp. for 10 years and Fisher Price for nearly 10 years, retiring in 1980.
She lived in the Medina area for more than 50 years. She and her late husband Norman W. Schultz were married Sept. 16, 1939, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. Norman died in December 1978.
She is survived by two daughters Eleanor ( Lowell) Davis and Joyce Monell both of Medina. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Denise (Gary ) Withey, Medina; Amy (Dennis) Conrad, St. Petersbury, Fla..; Jennifer (David) Lonnen of Medina; Angela Davis of Holley; Thomas (Michele) Monell of Medina; Kimberley Schroeder of Medina and Kristine (Randy) Vakiener of Haines City, Fla. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Allison & Kelsey Withey, Medina; Melanie Gemerick of Holley; Lacy (Loren) Gray, Texas; Kevin, Cory and Anthony Monell of Medina; two great-great-grandchildren, Logan and Lex Gray of Texas.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Beatrice (Lavern) Eick and the late Donald (Isabelle) Schultz and many nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by two brothers Albert (Ida) Hendrick and Lester (Alice) Hendricks.
She loved to be with her family and friends and loved the holidays. She was a member of Fisher Price Retirees Club, Senior Citizens of Medina and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ladies Guild and Altar Guild.

He had been employed as a laboratory technician at Carborundum Co., Niagara Falls, until his illness a few months ago. Born August 21, 1941 in Lockport, he was the son of Donald F. and Doris Campbell Schultz. He was a graduate of Royalton- Hartland Central School and Erie County Technical Institute of Buffalo. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister and brother, Donna and Richard, both at home, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Bailey of Newfane. Y., UNION-SUN A JOURNAL, Monday, April 18, 1960 M1DDLEPORT - Mrs. Dena Tiefel Kleinhans, 93, a lifelong resident of the Town of Royalton, died Saturday (April 16, 1960) in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Schad, 9450 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Mrs. Kleinhans had been in ill health for some time. The widow of August Kleinhans, she was born on Aug. 19, 1866, daughter of the late George and Sophia Rames Tiefel of Wolcottsville. Mrs. Kleinhans was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, and for 12 years served as secretary of its Ladies' Aid Society.
Other survivors include two sons, Fred W. Tiefel and Roy Raduns, both of the Town of Royalton; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Faskel of Medina, grandson and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Linkie had been ill for the past year but for the past six months her condition became serious. Mrs. Linkie is survived by her husband, one daughter and one son, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koepsel, one brother Fred Koepsel of Erie County and four sisters. He was born June 27, 1893 in Royalton, a son of Minnie Schubel and William Lindke. A resident of Hellert Road for 36 years, Mr, Lindke raised grain and cows. On Nov. 9 1938 he marred Doris Buehring [second wife]. The couple celebrated their silver wedding anniversary last year. Mr Lindke was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. Surving besides his widow are a son, Robert G. Lindke of Gasport, a daughter, Mrs Mildred Pritchard of Lyndonville; a stepson, Earl D. ✞LOCKPORT UNION-SUN AND JOURNAL-FRIDAY EVENING, MARCH 21, 1919 - KLUTTS CORNERS. March 21— The funeral services of the late Mrs. Mary Kleinhans which were held by the Rev. F. Schleef at the White Church at Wolcottsville Monday afternoon was largely attended. Quite a few from this neighborhood went to see the last remains of the dear old mother who within ten days reached her 80th birthday. She will be missed very much by her children and also by her many friends.
