John 6:44-51
God Draws Us to Him and His Son
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
John 6:61-66
Drawn to God by God
61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”
66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
John 14:15-21
The Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
There are churches, apologetics, writers, and people who try to get us to believe in God and receive His salvation...He offers salvation through His Son...There is no other name where we can go and find this salvation...
Yet, the people and the places we go, even though they try for us to see God in the proper Light and give us something or even many different personal things that might resonant with us and make us see this Light, it is God Alone who draws us to Him...This drawing of God to Him is a One sided affair...He Alone is drawing us...We have heard and seen and felt what we have about Him, but it is Him, who in the Greek language that drags us to His side and allows us to believe in Him...
When Jesus teaches us that it is God who draws us to Him, we might believe that as sinners we have other things to do and our interests are not into greatly concerned about being brought into salvation with Him...Even though He can give us eternal life...Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless it is granted him by the Father.”...The flesh of man and the earthly doings and what goes on around us, make it quite difficult to just walk a straight line to Him and say I believe without His intervention and help...With God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit working to draw us near Him, we still have trouble...The Holy Spirit is hard to accept...Jesus told His Disciples that the world cannot accept the holy Spirit, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him...But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you...
And thus we are drawn by God to Him, His Son, and the Holy Spirit...We need God's help...And because of God, we are better people...The heart changes as we are drawn toward Him and we are more loving...A more loving person to God and more loving to our neighbors...
