John 6:28-29
Faith in Jesus
28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
Followers of Jesus ask, what we must do to do the works that God requires...St. Paul tells us that no amount of works can get us to heaven...St. Paul also tells us that we have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God...
Jesus' followers seem to believe a certain type of behavior or works is required of God, the Father...Jesus tells us the work required...We are to believe in the One who the Father has sent...
Our righteousness does not come from the works and behaviors we have and do, but from believing in Jesus, who God has sent to us...Our faith is what is required...
