John 4:34
Jesus Does God's Will
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
John 6:38-40
Jesus Does God's Will
38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Matthew 26:36-46
Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
The Bible is the Word of God...God's Word and Will are eternal and infinite...And Jesus taught the eternities while He was on earth...
Many people try to follow His Word and His Will...But this is difficult many times as life and our own preferences seem to get in our way...It is hard to follow the Eternal and the Infinite, I believe, when we are finite in life on earth...But Jesus was able to do it...Jesus said that it is My food is to do the will of God who sent Me and to finish His work...He added that He came down from heaven not to do His will but to do the will of God, the One who sent Him...And this is the will of God who sent Him, that Jesus should not even one of all those He has given Him, but to raise them up at the last day...For His Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and then Jesus will raise them up on the last day...And in the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest and as He struggled with the anxiety of His upcoming death, He said, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me...Yet not as I will, but as You will.”...
While God's Word and His Will does not change, man does change and his will and thoughts and feelings change throughout his life...It seems wise to follow God's Word and His Will knowing that He is the One Who is both sacred and holy...God's Word and His Will give life meaning and helps answers the why's of life...And the Son of God followed both His Will and His Word...
