1 John 4:8
God is Love
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
John 18:36-38
What is Truth
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.
John 14:6
Jesus Says, I AM Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Matthew 22:16
Jesus Teaches About Truth
16 They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are.
John 8:31-32
Knowing the Truth Shall Set You Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 17:17
The Truth is Also God's Word
17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
John 3:21
Living by the Truth
21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
John 1:1-14
Jesus is Full of Grace and Truth
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:17
Grace and Truth Come from Jesus
17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 5:31-47
Testimonies About Jesus
31 “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. 32 There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true.
33 “You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. 34 Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved. 35 John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light.
36 “I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
41 “I do not accept glory from human beings, 42 but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?
45 “But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. 46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”
John 14:15-31
Jesus Promises the Spirit of Truth
15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, 31 but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
“Come now; let us leave.
John 16:13
The Spirit of Truth Guides Us to the Truth
13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
John 4:23-24
We Need to Worship God in Spirit and Truth
23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
John 8:40
A Man Who has Heard the Truth from God
40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things.
Psalm 86:11
Teach Me to Walk in the Truth
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
John 15:26-27
The Spirit of Truth
26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...Jesus was with God in the beginning...Through Jesus all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made...In Jesus is life, and that life is the Light of all mankind...The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it...Jesus and God are from the very beginning...They presuppose us -They were here at the start of all things that were created and made...
Above are some of the great verses of Truth...The Father and His Son are the Absolute Truth of the world...And much of Jesus' teachings are about Truth, and the Absolute Truth of God...And the first verse does not contain the word Truth, but teaches us that God is LOVE...Love an emotion in our seeking Truth and is at the beginning of any Truth...
Pilate ask the great question, "What is Truth?"...Trials are all about finding the Truth...I call this the Grand Trial...When Pilate, who is the judge, asks this question, Jesus is now in the middle of His trial...His trial is all about Truth...Judges and juries everyday seek truth...Yet, surrounding the most famous of trials every on earth, Truth was not found...Surrounding Jesus were people lying about Him...Yet, Truth was standing right in front of Pilate and the Sanhedrin, and they could not see IT..Jesus, who is Truth, was being judged by the untrue...And Jesus personifies the Truth, because Jesus is Truth...Jesus makes the Absolute Truth and all truths personal...When we believe in something, we believe that it is true...Why else would we believe in that thing or subject, if it were not true?...
Jesus says He is the Truth...Jesus teaches us the Truth...Knowing the Truth shall set you free...His Truth gives one a peace...The Truth is also God's Word...Jesus is the Word and the Word is Truth...He is full of Grace and Truth...Those that live by His Truth come to the Light, and follows His teachings...Moses gave us the law, but Jesus give us His Grace and His Truth...Jesus promises us the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of Truth...The Holy Spirit guides us to the Truth...And we need to worship God in Spirit and Truth...
God created us to have both feelings and to be rational in our thinking...We have the ability to find Truth...But Truth and truth do get personal...And by getting personal, it seems that our feelings intertwine with our beliefs and our truths...So they also intertwine with the Absolute Truth...Do we always want need the Truth to be always rational and free of emotions?...Sometimes I have thought that faith is coming to God when one's feelings are at their lowest, and when we are at that moment looking for Truth (and maybe we are wanting to get out of that emotionally low moment )...Maybe there is a freedom here from our low feelings that Jesus teaches...Jesus says that the Truth shall set us free...Maybe in my heart, I think that Jesus can protect me from these low moments, my worries, my anxiousness, and by doing this -He will set me free and give me the emotional freedom I want...
A large part of who we are is what we believe in...Most of the time how we act and behave is based on what we believe in...Most of the time, I believe that one's belief system should be based on only what is true...And it seems that feelings and thoughts most of the time are overlapping, and getting in my way...Do our emotions get in the way of our truths, and sometimes cause us to tell lies?...So, do we always allow the Truth to take precedent (over how we feel) in what we believe?...Is what we believe in, based on the truths we believe in, or is our belief system based on what we want?...Is it possible that we believe in different beliefs, because they make us feel good, or feel better?...Is this the right way to believe in things?...Is it possible some of our desires and some of our feelings drive us to what we believe in?...I believe it is very difficult to always believe in something without taking into consideration, your desires, your needs, your wants, and how you feel and feel about a belief...Emotions can get in the way of truths...To me, Truth sometimes, if not often, gets trumped by feelings, or by emotion and emotional reasoning...Are we fulfilled, by our wants and desires, or are we fulfilled by the Truth?...Or does it take both -desires and the Truth to fulfill us?...Can I really find Truth, if I void all my feelings, and am very much robotic and totally rational in the way I search for Truth?...
Pilate ask it, and I believe we must ask it, "What really is Truth?"...For me, Truth is Absolutely Jesus...He is the Teacher of Truth...He is not only our Teacher of Truth, but the Path of Life, and the Path to our Salvation...He is always on the side of Truth...
Have we today replaced how we want to feel and what we desire above the Truth?...Are we seeking what we want in this desire to feel better, and somehow leaving Him out?...Has our personal feelings of wanting to feel better, get the things we want, to do the things we want to do, and to satisfy each of our desires, separated us from the cross?...Has our own self-seeking blocked us from the Truth?...
There is much paradox in Truth...Jesus says He is Truth...He says He testifies to the Truth...And Jesus teaches us to seek the Truth...He teaches us to love God and to love our neighbor...Emotionally loving God and loving others must be a form of Truth, or a part of the Truth...Also these two great commandments are not self-seeking...They are both about loving others...I believe in one thing that there is this great connection between Truth and LOVE...There is no Truth without God...And God is LOVE...So, I believe, there cannot be Truth without LOVE...We cannot have Truth on earth or anywhere without LOVE...
Our truth, man's truth is focused on our personal thoughts and our feelings...The way I see Truth is how I perceive all these different things...Jesus is Truth and God is LOVE...Jesus and God are Divine, they transcend us...They presuppose us...To find Truth and LOVE we must go out of ourselves, and focus on them...When we look back at the Grand Trial, who do you now think is the Judge and who are the ones on trial?...Who is really on trial in the Grand Trial?...Who do you judge against in the Grand Trial?...Who maybe on trial in our own personal lives?...
As we read the verses that Jesus spoke in the gospels, we see that He speaks of Truth as being a part of God...Jesus spoke of Truth as being connected to God and relevant to God...When Jesus said I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one gets to God except through Me, He makes reference to God...When He told Pilate that He came to earth to testify to the Truth, He is testifying about God...When He said the Truth will set you free, He is referring to both God and Himself...
Let us pray each day to God, that He teaches us to walk in His Truth...
