Phoenix is a feather-dart launching bird mobile. Phoenix's shots feature a unique mechanic that cause its attack to change trajectory at the peak of its shot based on the direction of the wind. Phoenix is relatively frail but can both unleash high amounts of damage as well as take advantage of positioning, both defensively and offensively. Its unique way of attacking and demand for turn-to-turn situational awareness and adaptation make it a difficult, but rewarding, mobile to learn.
With S1, Phoenix launches a single feather that will 'activate' near the peak of the shot and continue in a predefined arc. Unlike S2 and SS, the direction of the wind does not alter the shot trajectory. When landed properly, this attack will do moderate damage (180-200). S1 requires a minimum launch height to activate and if the feather strikes an opponent without activating, it will do significantly less damage, generally around 120.
S2 involves three feather-darts being launched in succession which will, upon activating near the peak of the launch, pop-up and being flying in a direction and arc that matches the direction of the wind. Because the wind changes randomly every third turn, Phoenix will likely have to make wildly different shots each round and without the ability to predict in advance how it will look. This can be a double-edged sword of sorts, since situationally-favorable winds will allow phoenix to hide very well under cover and still successfully fire at opponents, while in other scenarios it will be unable to make a shot with S2 whatsoever. S2 is the stronger of its standard shots, typically dealing around 230 or more when landed properly, and functions well at utilizing clouds. Additionally, when Phoenix is at less than 40% remaining HP, S2 will receive a small damage boost.
Phoenix's SS functions very similarly to its S2. It will launch a single feather-dart that will, upon contact with the ground, a mobile, or a totem, burst through for high damage and will strike a deep, narrow chasm into the ground. This attack will deal relatively high damage, at around 450. Like S1 and S2, it requires a minimum launch height to activate and without doing so, the attack will deal significantly less damage. Like with S2, when under 40% remaining HP, SS will receive a small damage boost.
1. Much like Boomer, Phoenix can take advantage of clouds with its long reach, ability to hook around and reach clouds on the opposite side of the target, and multi-hit attacks. In this same vein, Phoenix is useful at reaching opponents hidden behind cover. Unlike Boomer however, Phoenix's ability to do this randomly changes with the wind.
2. Phoenix's SS can be used as a reliable bunging tool in certain circumstances by driving the attack underneath the opponents feet and cutting away a large portion of land.
