Asate is a satellite-laser summoning shield mobile. Each of Asate's shots involve firing a beacon which calls down lasers from the satellites positioned above Asate, giving it unique positioning strategies. Asate has solid stats all around with exception to its very low HP. Like other mobiles who summon attacks down unto a launched beacon, Asate can safely attack targets from below in many situations. On the flip-side, opponents are also often able to gain an advantage against Asate by taking cover underneath land or behind cover. Asate's shots can deal moderate land destruction and interact relatively well with items and clouds. While extra strategic considerations are a persistent issue, Asate is mechanically very simple and easy to learn.
Asate's S1 fires a beacon which will, once contacted with a mobile, totem, or land, summon two straight-line lasers unto its position from Asate's lower satellites. These lasers will deal moderate to solid damage of around 220-240 and if fired into or near the ground, will cause solid amounts of land destruction.
Asate's S2 operates exactly like its S1 except that the lasers are summon from Asate's higher satellites rather than the lower ones, dealing similar damage and land destruction. The operative difference between the two standard shots is that the differing angle they produce when firing the lasers unto the target will pass through (or avoid) different objects and obstacles. One of the S2 satellites will be high and directly above Asate, while the other will be high and some distance in front of Asate in the direction it is facing.
Asate's SS works much like its S2 except that it summons a bevy of satellite lasers rather than two, all clustered around the S2 height. Each laser comes down in quick succession, dealing around 400-450 damage if all lasers connect, and will destroy an exceptional amount of land if they connect with or near land.
1. Asate can put itself in poor positioning, or be put there by an opponent's movement, where any of its lasers will be blocked by land or other obstacles. Whenever possible, Asate should adjust its position such that at least one of its options can reach the target unobstructed. At all times, the S1 and S2 height locations are visible directly above Asate's body.
2. A beacon that lands directly on top of an opponent, and especially if it slightly toward the side away from Asate, is liable to summon lasers that pass directly over the target without connecting with them. This is particularly true of S1 which comes down at a lower angle. For this reason, it is generally preferable to slightly undershoot with Asate.
3. As an exception to the point above, when an opponent is covering from Asate behind a slope or incline, Asate can typically land the beacon on the far-side of their body to avoid hitting the land in front of them. This usually works more consistently with S2 due its more favorable angle.
4. It is possible for SS to miss most of its lasers if one of the lasers drops the target too far down from the beacon location.
5. Asate's lasers have a very small range for splash damage and, as such, make Asate a strong mobile in close quarters, providing there are no obstructions above.
6. Because there is a short delay as Asate summons his satellites, Asate can use a bungee drill item or bomb cluster to break a shield just before the lasers are summoned to deal full damage through the shield.
