Beetle King is an exploding larvae launching beetle mobile. Beetle King is characterized by its high HP, lack of raw damage output, and short firing range, making up for its shortcomings with a powerful digging game and unique ability in its SS to completely imprison opponents inside of the ground if not bungee them outright. Beetle King has high mobility and is one of the mobiles with the highest climb. It features extra utility with its S1 having both a small suction effect as well as applying a movement-reducing debuff. Its SS allows it to both tunnel through the ground and pull enemies toward its center, giving it unparalleled bunging and disrupting capabilities.
With S1, Beetle King launches a larva that digs a very short distance into the ground and then detonates, damaging mobiles and totems in the immediate vicinity and destroying a small amount of land. S1 will deal around 200-220 damage when landed properly, making it its primary damage dealing attack. In addition, any mobile hit will have their movement reduced by nearly half for two turns. This is unique to this attack and can stack multiple times. After 2 or 3 hits, an opponent can be completely immobilized.
With S2, a larva is launched that digs further into the ground before exploding, creating a small crater in the ground and dealing about 140-160 damage. Without any boosts to land destruction, the hole created by this shot will fall completely underground, unless at a very shallow angle. At low angles or with appropriates boosts by avatars such as Jewel Hammer-S or Franken, or land destruction clouds, the opponent can be dropped into a small hole that pins them in place and allows for follow-ups from mobiles like Raon, Draon, Slam, or Grub. If the opponent is at an edge facing Beetle King, S2 might also be used to continuously dig the opponent and deny them space to effective shoot out of the hole, potentially neutralizing them completely. S2 can be especially effective against low-firing mobiles such as Malite or Asate.
Beetle King's SS launches a larva that digs deep into ground, creates a large hole, and sucks any nearby mobile into its center while dealing around 150 damage (more if they are closer to the center of the attack, less if they are further away. In most circumstances, the opponent will be completely encased in earth, or, it can be used in a similar way to JD's gravity pull shots for bungee knock-outs. On sufficiently narrow pieces of land, the worm can tunnel straight through to the bottom and bungee directly underneath.
1. Because Beetle King does fairly little damage and requires precision shots, it is recommended to players who have not mastered sky-shooting Beetle King's shots to run it in a 'drop-in' position (2nd or 3rd spot in 2v2, or 3rd spot in Pro Battle). This way, Beetle King begins with two bars of SS and can get to its principal utility attack sooner. Additionally, for this reason, it is recommended to use land-destruction avatars and jewels, so that its S2 has more functionality in the period waiting for its SS. Alternatively, Beetle King might benefit from SS boosting avatars such as Kaka or Space Lord, and/or partnered with mobiles using Nasty Penguin.
2. When an opponent is near an edge facing Beetle King, S2 can be used to continuously tunnel them into the ground in a narrow hole. Alternatively, this can be done if the target is near Beetle King and Beetle King has sufficient land-destruction boosts by firing the shot directly up and landing it straight downward onto them.
3. To better control the hole created by S2 and ensure the opponent falls into it, adjust the pitch of the shot so that it explodes closer to the surface, allowing enough space for them to fall in. In general, lower angle shots will cause the larva to explode closer to the surface.
4. In cases where two tanks from opposing teams are bungeed by BK's SS, the tank that is furthest away from the center of the attack will be counted as being KO's first.
