Lesson 4/7

Hi friends,

During our Passover seder, we break the matzah into 2 pieces. We keep one piece in our matzah box and the other piece is called the afikoman. We take the afikoman, put it in a special bag, and then we get to HIDE IT! An adult hides it in a secret spot and all the kids get to look for it. Will YOU find the afikoman this year??

Let's make an afikoman bag! Are any letters in the word AFIKOMEN or AFIKOMAN also the first letter of your first name or last name? The letter "A" is the first letter in Morah Allison's first name and the "E" is the first letter of Morah Lisa's last name (Erkus). Cool, right?

If you have an envelope, great! A small one or big one will work. You can also use a brown paper lunch bag, a gift bag (cut the handles off if you want to) or even fold a piece of construction paper, felt, fabric, etc.and glue the edges closed.

Use whatever you have in your house to decorate it. You can use anything you want (crayons, markers, stickers, dot dot paint, regular paint, buttons, etc.) If you want to, you can punch holes around the edges and weave ribbon. Here are some examples. The most important thing is to HAVE FUN!
