Terrain infection, also known as block infection, is the system that lets the Spore infest various blocks and grow fungal foliage in order to terraform the world. Mobs and Items known as 'infestors' are capable of terrain infection. It should be noted that Infested Blocks and Foliage can not spread on their own, but need an infestor to do so. Below is a list of infestors:
Gastgebers (generic infestors)
Mounds (generic infestors)
Tendrils (unique infestors)
Proto Hiveminds (generic infestors)
Hivetumors (generic infestors)
Calamity Limbs (unique infestors)
Fungal Bonemeal (generic infestor)
Generic Infestors
Generic infestors (Gastgebers, Mounds, Proto Hiveminds, Hivetumors, and Fungal Bonemeal) all utilize the same terraforming system. These infestors are capable of 'puffing', which is just a burst of infection. Every time a generic infestor puffs, all infest-able blocks within a defined spherical radius of the infestor have a chance to either become infested or stay unaffected for that puff. Additionally, Foliage Blocks have a chance to be placed depending on the location and if the conditions are met for specific Foliage to exist or not.
