Axtwerfers are the Hyper Evolution of Infected Vindicators, belonging in the Hyper Evolved tier. They are quick and powerful melee and ranged combatants.
Spawning
Hyper Evolved from a Infected Vindicator when it obtains at least 7 Evolution Points and its 10 minute Evolution timer expires. Once it does, it will Hyper Evolve into an Axtwerfer.
Can be spawned by Challenge Watchers as a special mob during a Challenge Raid.
Can be spawned by Vigils during the third wave of a Vigil Raid.
Can be spawned by the Reinforcement System.
Unique Behavior
Every 3 seconds while an Axtwerfer has a target within direct line of sight and currently has its Iron Axe, it'll throw said Axe as a projectile, which deals 9 damage (x4.5 hearts). Once an Axtwerfer throws its Iron Axe, it'll regain it once 30 seconds have passed.
Axtwerfers are capable of parrying various attacks with their axe arm. When hit by a ranged projectile, an Axtwerfer has a 50% chance to block it, in which the projectile deflects and the Axtwerfer receives no damage. For melee attacks, it's a 15% chance to block and the Axtwerfer receives no damage. Parrying only works if the damage source is from an entity (mobs, players, etc.).
Depending on what entities an Axtwerfer kills in its lifespan, it's capable of changing its model to have different skulls on its shoulders. The maximum amount of skulls an Axtwerfer can have is two (one on each shoulder), and each skull provides a 10% damage reduction (20% total with both). Skulls are permanent.
If an Axtwerfer kills a Zombie, Husk, Drowned, or player, its model will change to have a humanoid skull on its right shoulder.
If an Axtwerfer kills a Villager, Wandering Trader, Witch, Pillager, Vindicator, Evoker, or Illusioner, its model will change to have a villageroid skull on its left shoulder.
Disables Shields for 5 seconds when dealing melee damage.
When eaten by a Womb, the resulting Calamity will have the Grinding Attribute (one additional level per applicable Mob eaten). This is in relation to the Womb Crafting System.
Behavior
Axtwerfers are hostile to most non-Spore mobs, with the exceptions being Animals and Fish (unless Should attack Animals is enabled via the Config) and mobs included in the Mobs Not Targeted blacklist within the Config.
Axtwerfers inflict Mycelium Infection I for 30 seconds when dealing melee damage.
Capable of breaking blocks with a hardness of 3 or lower.
Cannot ride Boats.
Can perform short dashes in liquids to pursue a target.
Axtwerfers have a 5% chance to drop a Scent upon death unless they are freezing.
Axtwerfers will create Nests.
Can fall from up to 8 blocks before taking fall damage.
Axtwerfers have 1.0 knockback resistance, meaning they can't be knocked back by attacks.
Melee attacks of Axtwerfers have an AOE.
Axtwerfers can see targets through walls if they are closer than 10 blocks.
Able to utilize Kill Points to grant themselves buffs.
Present a weakness to the cold.
Axtwerfers are not influenced by Horde Mentality; they are lone hunters. However, Infected, Evolved (excluding Chargers), Bairns, Scampers, and Gastgebers will attempt to pair up with them.
Axtwerfers can be Linked.
Are affected by the Despawning System.
Will despawn during Proto World Modifier if they are at least 256 blocks away from a player.

Trivia
Some of the Axtwerfer's abilities and design were partially taken from suggestions made by @dawnsslayers and @varenikloverv2 in the Spore Asylum Discord server, though the original suggestions were changed a lot and neither is credited as the original Axtwerfer suggestion.
'Axtwerfer' is German and means 'axe thrower'.
The Axtwerfer's model is based on vikings.
Is referred to as "hvindicator" in the code, as the model's root folder was named 'hindicator' (based on the term 'Hyper Vindicator'). This is due to a name for the Axtwerfer not being decided before it was added into the mod.
