Scavengers are a possible evolution of Infected Husks, belonging in the Evolved tier.
Spawning
Spawned when an Infected Husk gets an evolution point by killing a mob and its evolution timer begins. If the evolution succeeds, they have a 30% chance to become a Scavenger.
Spawned from Arena Tendrils during the third wave of a raid.
Spawned from Vigils during the second and third waves of a Vigil raid.
Spawned from Verwahrungs.
Spawned from a Howitzer's large Flesh Bomb.
Unique Behavior
Scavengers are flying mobs, allowing them to reach targets at higher levels and overall making them more mobile than other mobs. Though, they prefer walking on the ground when not in combat.
When finding a target, instead of attacking, the Scavenger will fly around the target, emitting a screeching sound that attracts other spore mobs within a 48 block radius, setting their target to the Scavenger's.
If after 15 seconds, not alone, target below 50% HP, or attacked, the Scavenger will engage in combat.
Scavengers are capable of swimming slowly in liquids.
Inflicts the Hunger effect for 1 minute when dealing melee damage. This is a trait carried down from the Infected Husk.
Behavior
Scavengers are melee combatants, attacking mobs with Infected forms, golems, and most hostile mobs.
Scavengers inflict Mycelium Infection for 30 seconds when dealing melee damage.
Has a follow range of 48 blocks.
Scavengers have a 5% chance to drop a Scent upon death.
When killed, have a chance to place a small short-lived Mycelium Infection area effect cloud.
Scavengers will attempt to group together in hordes with other Evolved.
Infected will follow Scavengers, who themselves will follow Hyper Evolved and Calamities.
Can perform low leaps/dashes to chase prey quickly through water.
Able to use kill points to give themselves buffs, such as strength or speed if the target is running away. They can also give themselves regeneration if they are low on health.
Capable of breaking glass and leaves.
Have a damage cap of 1/3 of their health on hard mode.
Present a weakness to the cold, like all spore mobs.

Trivia
The Scavenger is a suggested mob, coming from the mind of @pilotmoo in the Spore Asylum Discord server.
The Scavenger's model was created by the same person who suggested it, Dr. Pilot.
The fangs of the Scavenger are based on sun spiders.
Scavengers are the only Evolved mob to have their own unique ambient and death sounds.
Originally, there were only two different sets of ambient noises that Evolved would make. The first being the basic growl that the Infected Human and its line of evolution has. The second was a deeper growl that was meant to be scrapped. Verdathorns and Jagdhunds had their sounds replaced with the husk ones, but for unknown reasons, the Scavenger's were never replaced, and thus it kept the deeper growl.
Scavengers will have a Hyper form. This is because the Phayres didn't get one.
They have a scrapped variant called the 'Corpse Sweeper' variant that would pick up Human Remains and bring them to known Mounds. It was scrapped in favor of a Hyper.
