Slashers are a possible evolution of Infected Villagers, belonging in the Evolved tier. They are defined as a disposable mob by the config.
Spawning
Spawned when an Infected Villager or Infected Wandering Trader gets an evolution point by killing a mob and its evolution timer begins. If the evolution succeeds, they have a 30% chance to become a Slasher.
Spawned from Arena Tendrils during the second and third waves of a raid.
Spawned from Vigils during the second and third waves of a Vigil raid.
Spawned from Verwahrungs.
Unique Behavior
Capable of dragging targets closer to it. It's range for pulling is roughly ~1.66 blocks.
Essentially has Sweeping Edge, as its attack has an AOE.
Can be picked up by Phayrie.
Slashers have a custom death message, being "Slasher was happy to remove <player> limbs." 30% of the damage Slashers do is custom 'Slasher damage,' this solely effects the death message.
The Slasher has three variants, with a 25% chance per variant including the regular Slasher.
The Impaler Slasher pierces through armor, dealing an extra 2 damage to mobs and armor, if they have it. The Impaler Slasher lacks the ability to pull mobs.
Impaler Slashers have a custom death message, being "<player> was impaled by Slasher." 30% of the damage Impaler Slashers do is custom 'piercing Slasher damage,' this solely effects the death message.
The Smasher Slasher deals extremely large knockback to targets. The Smasher Slasher lacks the ability to pull mobs.
The Grabber Slasher has an 15% chance when hitting a mob to pick either the current item they're holding or the item in their offhand, and drop it on the ground. Players are able to pick up any dropped items instantly. Additionally, its pulling range is buffed by x1.5 to ~2.49 blocks.
Behavior
Slashers are melee combatants, attacking mobs with Infected forms, golems, and most hostile mobs.
Slashers have a 5% chance to drop a Scent upon death.
When killed, have a chance to place a small short-lived Mycelium Infection area effect cloud.
Has a follow range of 20 blocks.
Slashers will attempt to group together in hordes with other Evolved.
Infected will follow Slashers, who themselves will follow Hyper Evolved and Calamities.
Can perform low leaps/dashes to chase prey quickly through water.
Able to use kill points to give themselves buffs, such as strength or speed if the target is running away. They can also give themselves regeneration if they are low on health.
Capable of breaking glass and leaves.
Have a damage cap of 1/3 of their health on hard mode.
Present a weakness to the cold, like all spore mobs.

The Grabber Slasher variant is a suggested mob, coming from the mind of @slasherwolf_ in the Spore Asylum Discord server.
Interestingly, Slashers do not inflict Mycelium Infection when dealing melee damage.
The Smasher Slasher's knockback is so extreme that it often knocks its targets out of its follow range.
Slasher's step volume only plays at 15% for some reason. This isn't a mistake, as it's coded into the game.
