Lipoma

Lipoma is a benign mesenchymal tumor that originates from adipose tissues(fats). It is a soft and freely movable subcutaneous mass that are commonly found on the limbs. In this case the clinical presentation of the patient includes a lump pf mass on the right hind leg. Upon examination it was a non-painful and the mass didnt have any signs of inflammation or ulceration. The patient did not exhibit systemic signs like lethargy,emaciation or fever and the patient does not have any history of illness. 

Differential diagnoses for this condition includes cyst,hematoma,abscess, soft tissue sarcoma and mast cell tumor. Therefore, FNA(fine needle aspiration) was performed for confirmatory diagnosis. Surgical excision was the only primary choice of treatment for lipoma.

The surgical procedure was proceeded under gaseous anesthesia following strict asceptic techniques. Like other tumors, the excision was performed by giving an eliptical incision on the skin and blunt dissection. The mass was excised and the wound was closed in layers using absorbable suture materials on the inner layers and non-absorbable suture materials on the skin(cross mattress suture pattern was applied) with the knots away from the incision line.
