When

Use it when you need an outline for your business model - or when you need to rethink it.

How

Digital versions of Business Model Architect

Due to the current situation we are not able to hand out the physical card to each group. However there are two alternative virtual ways of using the Business Model Architect cards as inspiration for your business model:

Business Model Architect at Tabletopia

You can work with BMA at the virtual board game platform Tabletopia. It is still a prototype, that we set up for EiT, but the basics work.

TUTORIAL VIDEOS WILL FOLLOW SOON - but you should be able to get started with the following instrucitons:

  • Step 1: Go to BMA on Tabletopia...

  • Step 2: Enter a user name and click "Play as Guest"

  • Step 3: Next to your username/avatar click Add Seat to allow other to enter your room. Add a seat for each team member.

  • Step 4: Share the link (URL in your browser) with your team mates, so they can enter the game.

  • Step 5: Each team member follows the link and clicks Take a Seat.

You should now be in the room and find a board with 13 stack of cards around the board. The board is visually differnent from the Business Model Canvas, but the general structure is basically the same and based on Alexander Osterwalders work as well.

Before you take the next step, famiiarize yourself with how you can manipulate the cards and move around in the room etc.

  • Step 6: Read the basic instructions in the lower right corner of the room.

  • Step 7: Start building your business model in the lower left corner of the board (CUSTOMERS and CUSTOMER VALUE) by going through the cards and pick the card(s) that you think should define your business model. And continue step by step according to the instructions sheet in thel ower right corner.

WRITE DOWN THE RESULT - or take screen shots - before you leave the room. You should be able to get back to the same session again. But just in case...

  • Get your Business Model Architect ELEMENTS cards ready and organize them according to colours.

  • Pick one or maybe a few cards in each category (colour) that are the best answer to the questions in each field of the Business Model Architect Canvas.
