Ideation is about getting to the idea that you want to work on for your project. This process is outline below.
Define the goal of your ideation process by defining the question you want to answer with your ideation. E.g. How can we make a more energy efficient way to....?
And define success criteria for a great idea.
Get a selection of tools to define the problem you want to solve...
Come up with a large number of raw and unpolished ideas. Quantity matters, not quality.
Organize your ideas into groups of related ideas to decide in which direction you want to continue.
Pick some of the most interesting ideas and improve and develop them further. Quality matters.

- gain a better understanding of the challenge at hand (divergent process)
- step back from the "given challenge" and find out if your looking at the "right challenge" (divergent process)
- to produce multiple ideas (divergent process)
- to select the best idea (convergent process)
- to produce a value proposition for the selected idea (convergent process)
And importantly: The tools also serve as a basis for personal and group reflections.
