Naga are primarily snake like creatures with some basic humanoid traits such as arms and possibly even a humanoid face. They live in isolated rivers and jungles of Eastern lands, especially subtropical Asia. Their long bodies are covered in scales, made to assist in a special undulating motion that they use for land and water based environments. Also helping them in keeping themselves silent so when they hunt they are allowed to get close without making a sound. Also common to Naga are their ability to have a poisonous bite or constricting their victims until they suffocate. Their bodies designed so they only need to eat once in a great while, and can slow their metabolism down so they can go for weeks without needing to eat something. By nature they are considered often curious of things, to which they were spotted by humans frequently. They believe in the deity Kadru, who was the mother of all snakes.
During early times, Naga because of their image were considered deities due to their appearance. In Hindu and later Buddhist religions some believed that they were what held the Earth up, they were often tied into protecting sources of water and causing natural disasters at the same time. They were often considered to be respected, but were not always. Though they were once numerous their numbers dwindled over time. With their race about to become extinct, they were granted dragon powers by the Eastern dragons and it sustained their population.
