While mostly made up of normal dragons, other dragon blood races have been known to become involved. Blood-Kin are a group consisting of many old clans hidden amongst the population that are almost exclusively against the Dreu-Kin and seek to oppress or otherwise dissociate themselves with them. They consist of many old clans that swore a truce amongst themselves to form the organization. Their core beliefs say that the Dreu-Kin are unnatural beings (since they were artificially created) not worthy to carry the blood of dragons. They carry a very conservative attitude wanting to hold on to old ways and traditions, at the same time they barely tolerate the technological advancements.
When dragons discovered that genetic experiments were being performed on their own blood, there was an outcry. This planted the seeds for those who didn't like the Dreu-Kin. When Drarus became the first Dreu-Kin the dragons who had been campaigning against this had had enough, and formed the group Blood-Kin. Working under the radar they worked their organization on to one ship, Beta, and secretly took control over the ship. Dreu-Kin that came in did not leave and were treated poorly amongst the populace. This lasted for about one hundred years until word had snuck out, when they were exposed, a small civil war broke out. Not standing a chance the Blood-Kin backed off and became hidden amongst the populace, hoping once again to form up and get rid of the Dreu-Kin. Their public image is different, they seem relatively peaceful with the main goal being to preserve the old ways of what it means to be a dragon, while not untrue, it is not enough to keep them from publicly displaying their association with the group.
Dragons (or other non-dreu-kin species) born into the Blood-kin are taught at a young age that strength as an individual is worth a lot in a clan. In fighting is encouraged, and not interfered with; it makes their clan and their blood stronger. It is for these reasons, Dreu-kin are viewed as weak and pathetic, especially those who change into Dreu-kin. Weaker dragons within the clan have a chance to have their life taken from them, as it weeds out the weak, and keeps the strong stronger. When they grow enough to become a Hunter, they are considered full fledged adults. It's at this point they are large, and filled with strength and follow the doctrine passed down by their peoples.
In public areas they are simply ignored, or evasive to normal conversation. In secrecy, the Blood-Kin may take advantage of Dreu-Kin or cause harm to them in more severe cases. During their time holding them in the ship Beta, they were subject to beatings and treated more as slaves. Their oppressive rule over Beta prevented the Dreu-Kin from outside contact, isolating their captured prey. Outwardly they would put up a pretty smile, even inspectors were not roused of any suspicion for a long time.
When one is in the Blood-Kin, they cannot expose themselves to the public, so to immediately recognize each other in public, they have ruins inscribed to the outside of their body. The symbols are magically created, are powerfully sealed, and are difficult to break and expose. They are magically suppressed and cannot be sensed by others. When under the effects of the spell, it appears as a bright glowing rune on the body, and those to carry this same rune can also see it. It is impossible to recognize these symbols since it was made with very old magic.
Being heavily rooted in keeping the old ways alive they are mostly supportive of old dragon kind. They hope that one day, they can be as they were. Natural, untamed, and not soiled by advanced technological influences. They also wish to either eradicate the Dreu-Kin or enslave them. Commander Drarus is their sole worst enemy and represents the polar opposite of the Blood-Kin's goals.
Position in this system is mostly determined by their age, but strength and determination can allow younger dragons to be promoted within their system. Their system is based on an older clan based system that was run before any major advancements. While clan structures can vary, Blood-kin Clans adopt this structure.
This position became necessary for the Blood-Kin to continue to exist. Their identity(s?) remains unknown. Only the Clan Leaders and Sofos Klimakes may see the this individual. To anyone below Sofos, the Head Chieftan is either non-existent or only a legend. Those who try to speak of the Head Chieftain to non Blood-Kin, are executed just to secure the Head Chieftain's identity.
A Clan Leader is not to be confused with the Head Chieftain, they are the leader of an individual clan within' the Blood-Kin. Not all clans will get along with each other, often there are old squabbles that still happen from time to time over old things that shouldn't matter. This is where Clan Leaders stand. They are representatives of their clan and often sent to manage politics. Aside from this, they must often prove themselves to their clan mates to keep their seat in power. The infighting keeps their skills sharp. The Clan Leader must be strong for if they are defeated they would bring shame to the Blood-Kin. Promotions and decisions are also ultimately made by the Clan Leader.
Meaning 'old scales', it is a wise man that works directly under the clan leader in a given clan. While they hold no direct power, they have the ability to influence the decisions of the Clan Leader. They are often by themselves or are together (up to five) in a single clan. They are trusted with the group's darkest secrets, and often debate among themselves or between the other leaders over the future of their clan. They are most certainly non-combatant types, but can still defend themselves as well as any dragon can. Which, considering they are often post Clan Leaders themselves, makes them still a great deal of trouble to fight with.
Publicly they are often seen as healers, or individuals to seek wisdom from. They are often the leaders of rituals, tellers of old stories.
The hunters are a group that hunts for food in the wild and brings it back to the clan. Often this title serves a dual purpose, making them equal parts warrior, and the first line defenders of their clan. Often, as a pack of alpha-males do, to simplify who has seniority over each other, they fight each other for the top spot. This also fosters their relation together, making them more determined to help one another against outsiders. Though the younger ones have the slight tenancy to start fights with others, in the current state of society, they may sometimes restrain themselves from talking too much with others.
In public appearance, clan members are often Non-Dreu-kin with fresh scars from fighting with their own kin. (though keep in mind, not all scarred individuals fresh or not are considered Blood-Kin or have reason to be suspicious over. Scars, even new ones, are a regular and accepted part of society)
It's often difficult to be accepted into a clan. Considering they are close like family as it is. In the case of Blood-Kin however, they are slightly more accepting of the outsider. Being fresh members of a clan, they are often stuck this way for a long time. Being viewed as a stranger often for a long period of time until they are integrated into the clan. Thus often in order to be tested they are picked on the most, getting into fights, serving others above them in order to prove their worth. Being able to withstand the pressure of being a New Blood for a long time and proving themselves often in front of a Clan Leader will gain approval. Then they are indoctrinated by ritual, which includes getting a special rune of the Blood-Kin.

After discovering what had been happening in the ship Beta. The Aegis came in and fought for control of the ship Beta. Progress to their destination was halted for four years while the fighting occurred. Many Dreu-Kin were freed from the Blood-Kin's oppression and most were moved to the ship Omega by Drarus' personal order. The Blood-Kin had lost, scattering their organization into obscurity.
