22nd Day of Harvesttide, FC 1999
To the Council of Grognards,
Here is a summary of our latest adventure:
Four Initiates set out from Rockport on the 21st Day of Harvest Tide. The initiates were Zah Varsk, Hetch A’Kahn, Amabel, and Wenzan Treeblitz. We set out in search of the large cats that had attacked the lumber camp.
We set out to visit the lumber camp. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that all of the materials and goods that had been stacked in the wagon were missing. So someone or something has taken the goods and supplies.
We set out due East from the lumber camp. We found some fresher tracks from what appeared to be a draft horse. We followed the track about many hours east. We witnessed four large cats trying to take down the draft horse. We were able to slay three of the cats and force the fourth cat away wounded. During the night our camp was attacked by what appeared to be a land adapted octopus. The tentacle reach was upward of twenty feet. The land adapted octopus emitted a misty fog instead of an ink cloud. We were able to slay the creature. The next morning the injured draft horse returned to our camp site.
We returned to Rockport on the 22nd day of Harvest Tide with the draft horse, three pelts from the large cats, and two tiny dirt-opi.
Interesting things discovered during our two days out of Rockport:
The birds have returned to the area of the forest near the lumber camp. We think that the removal of the giant spiders has prompted the return of the birds.
Someone or something has taken the goods and supplies from the wagon at the lumber camp.
We discovered very small tentacled creatures in the dirt beneath a log at the lumber camp. We brought two of these dirt-opi back to Rockport. These creatures appear to be tiny octopi that live in the dirt. These creatures so far act just like dirt worms.
We also discovered the large land adapted octopus that attacked during the night. The creature was quite strong and extremely hardy. Zah Varsk was almost slain by the creature and was knocked unconscious.
The large cats were tawny, yet strong. They had a mottled color. They were similar in size to the old panthers that once existed in the Empire. The cats were agile and strong. One injured cat escaped us.
The terrain in the forest is relatively flat in the section we traveled. The canopy is fully developed and quite high in the air. The underbrush is a minimum making traveling easier. After about two hours out of the lumber camp, we came upon the remains of the ancient stone wall surrounding the bay. The wall was typically three large stones high, but then went to five stones high. Since a typical stone is about 15-feet tall, the wall was 45-feet tall for a bit, but was mostly 75-feet tall. We noticed that the stones fit together in a nearly seamless manner. We noticed these stones were about 20-feet in length as are the full stones that surround Rockport. The wall continued beyond further than we traveled. We traveled for the majority of the day.
A map of the area has been drawn by Initiate Wenzan. Wenzan will add to the map as he continues exploring.
Here ends the summary of this two-day exploration,
