To council of Grognards,
Upon my arrival with the supply wagons i was accosted by a large, excited Half-Orc who was waving dirty scrolls and a broken quill at me. “Ju maka da tracks on scrool dat peeple readz?” He asked me. It took me a moment to understand him but eventually i did. “Yes i can scribe”. I replied. “Good!” He bellowed. “Den you make de boss papers that Thag tell youse”. After much thought i realized he wanted me to scribe his report. I agreed to. He the; bought 6/7 different laterns around, telling me that “ju need da lights maka gud scrool so bosses like Thag”. It was a bit stifling and bright but when i tried to move one away a bit he grunted and said “ju trying to trick Thag and maka bad scrool?” He also begin to look angry and pull at his chest hair. i assured him that was not the case and here is a summary of what he told me. Or at least what i think he told me. On or about the 12th of Winterdeep there appeared to be a bit of an uproar in the tower as the goblins who are temporarily quartered there were being rowdy. After a few knocks in the head by Selma (the hot cookah as he described her) and some intervention by Guild Journeymen Novak, Chillax, Halmax, Wenzen, Manawa and Thag they setteld down. Shortly after that there was a meeting to determine how to strengthen the tower defenses. The inner bailey door was reinforced, arrow slits were added to the walls in the same location and traps were made to both collapse the roof and and the floor. This created a kill zone in the main entrance hallway. Thag has insisted that i add here that he was willling to kill all of the goblins if need be. He even thought that using them as bait/test subjects of the new defenses would be a good use of “greenskins”. The construction crew has started making the desired changes. On or about the 14th of Winterdeep, a blizzard set in and eveyone was basically snowed in for the next 8 days. During this time, one of the oxen for the carts had to be slaughtered and eaten to prevent starvation. (Thag again emphasized his willingness to reduce the mouths to feed by using Orc math on the goblins. I was foolish enough to ask what that was and he said “cutting tings in haff”. After the blizzard broke, the Guild members listed above cleared snow from around the tower and noticed that the river that comes down from the river tribe location was both frozen solid and seemed to be blood red. They decided to venture up the river and see what had happened. After about one day of travel, they were set upon by a pack of huge wolves. I asked how many and Thag said “more than 2 hands”. As we have 12 furs to bring back on our return trip, that appears to be the correct number. The fighting was fierce and nip and tuck and then a huge white wolf appeared and breathed “ice air” on Chillax, almost “freezin him like ice”. The fight raged on. Eventually both Chillax and Halmax fell to the wolves. There are two notes here that Thag insist i make: first, we need better axes, his was crooked and not balanced which led to him missing “dem fecking dawgs” more often than not. He now thinks it will be ok as it has been “blooded” and offered to demonstrate on a goblin, which i declined. Second: Chilax fought valiantly and deserves a heros burial, “like de waryer him was”. As for Halmax, he simply said “Dwarf no stay close, him die. Stoopid dwarf”. After the fight they camped the night in a cave and then returned home bringing the bodies of the fallen and the wolf pelts. Thag also said they ate some of the wolf meat and now have the spirit of the wolves. He also added that the wolf with ice breath was the only surviovor and ran off. He seemed very agitated by this wolf and ranted for a bit about how that wolf had killed 2 guild members and the guild was Thag’s clan and now that wolf was going to see Orc math at some point. He asked that we send food that can be stored in the tower for the times when the snow is “higha den a dwarfs head or an orcs balls”. He also asked for “very warm” clothes to use to hunt the wolf”.
