REPORT ON EXPLORATION OF CRAB MOUTH LAGOON AND THE BATH HOUSE
The is the summary for our continued exploration of Crab Mouth Lagoon and subsequent exploration south to the Old Elven Bath House. Manawa, Thag, Kastor, and Elzin participated in this exploration.
We started our morning on the airship with an amazing breakfast of crab cakes and eggs. We then went to explore Crab Mouth Lagoon, though Elzin prefers to call it Crab Claw lagoon.
There is a rocky outcropping extending 500 feet into the water. There are hundreds to tide pools. The sand is black. There is a lot of green algae, yellow kelp, black sea urchins, blue starfish, tiny purple urchins, and golden anemones in the lagoon and along the beach.
While we were exploring along the beach we saw a herd or small pack of Tabibari. There were ten that we could count. The Tabibari communicated to each other about suitable eating areas through a series of vibrations in their throats or heads. Once they saw us, they galloped off into the forested area.
Later in the day we traveled south and south east. As the forest started clearing, signs of an ancient Elven civilization became apparent. There were ruins, statues. All statues and carvings or reliefs on buildings were nude and erotic in nature. The trees gave way to a descent to a beach containing a city of ruins. There are many massive statues and buildings in this city.
We came across the ancient bath house. As we started to explore, we encountered a heavily armed group of Goa (green lizard people) who were leaving the bath house with a small hoard of treasure. I tried talking to the Goa. They are not creatures for conversation. Their group was organized and on a clear mission to retrieve treasure. We stepped aside and allowed the Goas to go on their way. There were sixteen Goa that we counted as they exited the gardens of the bath house.
The bath house has several layers/levels. The top level is a section of walled gardens. The next level is a series of rooms with natural baths/pools extending from a central staircase. On this first bath/pool level, there were four sections of rooms with two entrance doors each connecting to the central room/staircase. When we entered one such room, we encountered two living attacking plants. These plant creatures were similar to constrictor vines, but with thorns. Each plant creature had three long tentacles that could grab out to fifty feet. These tentacles grabbed you, squeezed you, and pulled you close to the main stalk which contained a mouth that bit you if you were within range. We were able to defeat these plant creatures despite their toughness and ability to deal lots of pain and damage.
Beyond the plant creatures we discovered a waiting room and a bedroom off of the main bath/pool room. Items in these rooms were covered in an orange crystalline substance that preserved the items. In these rooms, we recovered two chests with erotic tools. One chest had silvered manacles (6 sets), 200 feet of silvered chain, masks decorated with gold filigree and several large feathers. In the second chest, the items were similar but made from adamantine. The motif of the first chest was one of happiness and pleasure. The motif of the second chest was one of pain, torture, subjugation, and bondage. We recovered two preserved tapestries and a statuette of two lovers along with 3 potions (1 black, 1 white, and 1 in a heart shaped bottle). The 2 chests, 2 tapestries, and the statuette (each valued about 250 GP) is given to the ship/guild treasury.
We also found several skeletons of humanoids in the massive plant creatures. We discovered that the plant creatures stored possessions removed from eaten creatures in several cracks and crevices in the ceiling of the main bath/pool room. We were able to recover a total of 700 CP; 12,000 SP; 2,000 GP; and 90 PP. We split this equally with each one of us getting 175 CP; 3,000 SP; 500 GP; and 27 PP. The extra 2 PP went to the ship/guild treasury.
The rumors of danger and treasure on Hot Springs Island are true. I look forward exploring the rest of the island and the other islands in the Swordfish Island chain.
