The purpose of the capstone program is to simultaneously accomplish three objectives:
Provide outstanding senior capstone design projects to meet the ABET accreditation requirements of our two nationally ranked engineering programs.
Provide outstanding leader development experiences within the context of Civil and Mechanical Engineering in order to help our cadets become equipped to address open-ended, real-world problems that are relevant to their careers as officers in the US Army and beyond.
Provide intellectual capital focused on tough technical challenges facing the Army and the Nation.
In addition to our capstone design program requirements, many cadets participate in independent study projects that afford them a “graduate school-like” research opportunity in a topic that interests them. Those projects are also presented here under the “Independent Study” links above.
We truly appreciate all of the support from our sponsors that make this experience possible, many of whom come from across labs within Army Futures Command and the DoD as well as industry partners. Our sponsors are critical in helping to identify problems, connect us with subject matter experts, mentor teams through the design process, provide funding support, and provide a means to transition successful designs for future application.
Thank you to our sponsors, parents, and supporting organizations for helping develop the next generation of problem solvers and leaders!
