Sponsor: Technology Applications Program Officer (TAPO)

Advisors: COL Richard Melnyk, LTC Steven Chetcuti

Summary: The purpose of this project is to design and prototype a system that will return an Altius-600 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to the ground operating unit without the use of a runway or damage to the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in a variety of adverse and constrained environments for Special Operations Units. The Altius-600 is one of several systems that are part of the Air-Launched Effects suite of sensors and payloads that can be launched from a variety of ground and air assets from a common launch tube. The retrieval system must be deployable by an MH-60 and function with minimal modification to the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. This year the device must be able to capture multiple Altius-600 air vehicles without intervention.
