Lifelong Learning Measures
Bridging BMC with the Community
Hosting Events
BMC actively supports lifelong learning by hosting various public events on campus that aim to disseminate knowledge across a wide range of subjects. Throughout 2024, the college held several public lectures, educational exhibitions, and social awareness campaigns aimed at fostering a culture of lifelong learning within the community.
In February 2024, BMC also contributed to lifelong learning by hosting the Founding Day Charitable Bazaar. This event was organized to foster social equality and support students facing financial challenges, thereby promoting educational accessibility and quality education for all. The funds raised from this initiative were used to provide financial support for educational resources, further enhancing the learning opportunities available to students from underserved communities.
One of the notable events was the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign conducted in October 2023. This annual event aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer, educate individuals about the importance of early detection, and provide information on the symptoms and risk factors associated with breast cancer. Hosted in the BMC main lobby, students from all programs actively participated, providing informative booths and interactive sessions to educate the broader community. The campaign also emphasized the significance of mammograms, thus contributing to both educational outreach and public health.
Another key event hosted by BMC was the International Volunteer Day Walkathon held at Jeddah Waterfront in December 2023. This initiative aimed to promote a culture of volunteerism and community engagement. By collaborating with Jeddah Municipality and other organizations, BMC fostered lifelong learning through physical activity and social responsibility, encouraging participants to engage with and contribute to their community in meaningful ways.
The Founding Day Planting Initiative, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and other partners, was held in February 2024. This initiative focused on promoting environmental sustainability by planting 1,139 sprouts. The event provided participants with hands-on experience in environmental preservation, thus combining learning with action. By involving students in activities that contribute to environmental conservation, BMC helps cultivate values of social responsibility and community service among learners.
Hosting Vocational Training Events
BMC's focus on quality education includes offering vocational training events that aim to equip participants with essential skills for the workforce. The college has collaborated with international institutions and local partners to provide these programs, emphasizing professional development and practical skills.
In 2024, BMC continued its partnership with the American Heart Association to offer the Basic Life Support (BLS) course, which focuses on teaching
cardiovascular life support skills. These courses are available to students and healthcare professionals, ensuring that they are well-prepared to handle medical emergencies effectively.
BMC also collaborates with several international cultural organizations, including the French Consulate, the British Cultural Council, and the Goethe-Institute, to offer language courses in French, English, and German. These courses are open to the public, providing an opportunity for participants to learn new languages and bridge cultural divides, thus contributing to personal and professional growth. BMC's role as an accredited center for IELTS and German language exams further demonstrates its dedication to lifelong learning and skill development for both its students and the community.
Education Outreach Activities Beyond Campus:
BMC is committed to ensuring that quality education is accessible beyond its campus by actively engaging in education outreach activities. These initiatives help bring educational opportunities directly to the community, reaching those who might not otherwise have access to them.
In 2024, BMC's Occupational Therapy Program organized an awareness campaign at AlYasmin Mall on World Occupational Therapy Day in October. This event aimed to raise public awareness about the role of occupational therapy (OT) in healthcare, highlighting the diverse areas in which OT practitioners
work and promoting the impact of OT within community settings. With over 400 visitors, the campaign was successful in engaging the public and providing valuable information on the importance of occupational therapy.
BMC also expanded its Small Scientist Program, a unique initiative designed to engage high school students in scientific research. By providing young learners with hands-on experience in labs and giving them access to BMC's facilities, this program introduces them to the world of science and inspires them to pursue careers in STEM fields.
Moreover, BMC students actively participated in the Nursing Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign held in October 2023. In collaboration with King Abdullah Hospital, BMC organized interactive sessions that provided participants with important information about breast cancer, including symptoms, risk factors, and the appropriate age for mammograms. This outreach initiative was a practical way for students to engage with the community while promoting awareness about critical health issues.
In collaboration with local schools, BMC also conducted educational workshops and demonstrations, focusing on various topics including health, nutrition, and scientific exploration. These outreach efforts aimed at promoting quality education at the primary and secondary levels, ensuring that young students have the resources and support they need to succeed academically.
