BMC's Commitment to Community Engagement and Shared Sports Facilities
BMC’s commitment to promoting health and well-being extends beyond healthcare and education to include active community engagement. By sharing its sports facilities with local schools, sports clubs, and the general public, BMC has become a hub for promoting physical fitness.
The Bikeathon for breast cancer awareness held at the Jeddah Waterfront is another example of BMC's dedication to encouraging active lifestyles. By collaborating with the Ministry of Sports and promoting physical activity through events like these, BMC ensures that the message of good health and well-being reaches beyond its campus.
In 2024, BMC continued to host and sponsor sports events such as football tournaments and inter-school competitions. These activities provided opportunities for students and community members to engage in physical exercise, fostering teamwork and community spirit.
BMC’s indoor and outdoor playgrounds are vibrant centers of activity, open to local sports clubs and public schools. By providing access to these facilities, BMC ensures that young athletes in the community have a place to train and develop, promoting a culture of health and well-being.
Additionally, BMC takes an active role in organizing numerous sports events. Through its diverse sports clubs, the college hosts competitions across a range of activities, encouraging energetic engagement between school teams. These events offer students a chance to showcase their talents while fostering inter-school friendships and mutual respect. BMC's student clubs also enthusiastically participate in activities like walking, biking, and horse riding with students from other institutions, promoting physical fitness as well as values of teamwork and resilience.
One notable event that highlighted BMC's dedication to community sportsmanship was the football tournament held from November 2023 to February 2024. Hosted on BMC's grounds, this league brought together teams from neighboring colleges, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the community. The tournament concluded with BMC’s dentistry team emerging as champions, underscoring the college’s commitment to supporting and nurturing athletic talent.
At BMC, sports are about more than just competition; they are about nurturing a culture of physical activity and embodying true sportsmanship for all. The Annual Sports Day, held in December 2023, exemplified this approach. The event featured enthusiastic participation in traditional games like the egg-and-spoon race, skipping, and sprinting, and it aimed to go beyond competition. The focus was on fostering a positive sports environment, with participants divided into balanced teams to ensure everyone had an equal opportunity to participate. More than just races and fun, the day promoted unity and concluded with the recognition of exceptional performances through prizes and medals.
