Life Below Water & Life on Land
Life Below Water & Life on Land
BMC continued to elevate its commitment to Life Below Water (SDG 14) and Life on Land (SDG 15), recognizing the critical importance of preserving natural ecosystems for future generations. BMC's efforts are reflected in its diverse activities that focus on biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and the promotion of sustainable practices on land and in marine environments.
Marine Conservation and Life Below Water
BMC intensified its focus on marine conservation in 2024, continuing its collaborations with local environmental organizations to raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems. The college's nursing students played a key role in participating in underwater and beach clean-up initiatives, aimed at reducing plastic pollution in the Red Sea. These efforts directly contributed to preserving marine biodiversity and improving the health of local ecosystems.
Moreover, BMC organized a series of seminars and workshops dedicated to marine conservation, educating students and staff about the dangers of plastic waste, endangered marine species, and the need for habitat restoration. These events helped foster a sense of responsibility among participants, encouraging them to take active steps in protecting marine environments.
Green Campus Initiatives and Life on Land
BMC’s green campus initiatives continued to expand in 2024, with a focus on integrating native flora and enhancing green spaces around the campus. These areas not only support local biodiversity but also create a healthy learning environment for students and staff. BMC’s ongoing Founding Day Planting Initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, contributed to the planting of over 1,000 seedlings, which helps restore natural habitats and supports urban biodiversity.
Through these efforts, BMC remains dedicated to preserving life below water and life on land, fostering environmental stewardship within its academic community while contributing to global biodiversity conservation goals.
