Smoke-free Policy
BMC's Active Efforts for a Smoke-Free Campus
BMC has consistently upheld its commitment to creating a healthier, smoke-free environment for its community. Since the introduction of its "smoke-free" policy in 2019, BMC has worked to maintain a campus where health and well-being are prioritized. In 2024, these efforts continued to evolve, reinforcing BMC’s dedication to a tobacco-free campus and community.
At the core of these efforts is BMC’s Smoking Cessation Clinic, established in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. This facility offers medicinal aids and counseling services to those seeking to quit smoking, and utilizes a dedicated Tobacco Control Management System to assist individuals in their journey to overcome tobacco addiction. The clinic's approach is holistic, providing both medical support and practical guidance to ensure that anyone looking to quit smoking has the resources they need.
In addition to offering cessation services, the clinic plays a crucial role in educating students and staff about the dangers of smoking. Through a combination of outreach programs, educational workshops, and e-club guidance, the clinic provides comprehensive support to help individuals avoid the habit of smoking. The goal is not only to raise awareness but also to equip students and staff with practical tools and knowledge that help them make healthier choices.
BMC's dedication to a smoke-free environment extends beyond the boundaries of its campus. Throughout 2024, BMC actively engaged in No Smoking and Anti-Drug Campaigns aimed at the broader community. These campaigns reached schools, public spaces like shopping malls, and other community sectors to raise awareness about the health risks associated with smoking and substance abuse. By partnering with the Ministry of Health, BMC amplified the message about the harmful effects of smoking, providing resources and information to help individuals quit and prevent tobacco use.
Through its ongoing smoke-free initiatives, outreach programs, and educational campaigns, BMC continues to promote a healthier environment for its students, staff, and the wider community. These efforts reflect the institution’s unwavering commitment to public health, ensuring that everyone is informed and supported in making decisions that contribute to a tobacco-free, healthier future.
