Pilea microphylla
Generalidades
Sinónimos: No aplican.
Nombre común: Mariposa, palma del norte, frescura, verdolaguilla, chisme, chismoso, golondrina, ha’il tsan (lengua huasteca), palito verde, yomha y zizal-xiu.
Características generales:
Hierba esencialmente anual, erecta o en parte recostada sobre el sustrato de hasta 40 cm de alto, tallo muy ramificado, frecuentemente suculento, sin pelillos,
Hojas puestas, pecioladas, distribuidas a lo largo del tallo, algo carnosas, las de cada par pueden ser de diferente tamaño a casi iguales, frecuentemente asimétricas.
De 1 a 25 flores pequeñas, blancuzcas y manchadas de rojo.
Usos medicinales reportados
En la medicina popular se le atribuyen efectos antidiabeticos, antiasmaticos y se le considera como cura a la infertilidad femenina.
Asimismo se le atribuyen propiedades anticancerigenas, vermífugas, diureticas, emolientes y para eliminar moretones.
