Parkinsonia aculeata

Generalidades

Sinónimos: No aplican.

Nombre común: Guacóporo, junco, junco marino, retama (en la zona). Bría, cahuinga, mezquite extranjero, palo verde, para rayo (fuera de la zona).

Características generales:

  • Árbol de crecimiento rápido que puede llegar a medir 8 m de altura.

  • De corteza verde, copa aparasolada y follaje colgante.

  • Las ramas nuevas son flexibles, péndulas que crecen en forma de zig-zag.

  • Las hojas son caducas y están formadas por foliolos dentados.

Usos medicinales reportados


  • Tradicionalmente las hojas, flores y semillas en infusión se consideran medicinales y tienen propiedades antifebriles, sudoríficas, antipalúdicas y reconstituyentes.

  • Asimismo, con las hojas y la corteza se elabora un jarabe contra la tos y la fiebre.
