Audiologieassistent

Tijdens de 1-jarige MBO-opleiding Audiologieassistent doe je kennis op over het functioneren van gehoor, geluid, spraak en hoortoestellen. Je leert onder andere onderzoek uit te voeren, informatie en advies te geven en hoortoestellen aan te passen.  Tijdens deze opleiding tot audiologieassistent leer je zelfstandig audiometrisch onderzoek uit te voeren bij kinderen en volwassenen. Je leert informatie en advies geven over slechthorendheid en hulpmiddelen aan de slechthorende zelf en/of aan zijn omgeving. Ook leer je meer over het aanpassen van hoortoestellen en het assisteren bij vestibulair onderzoek.

 Je volgt 1 dag per week theorielessen in het midden van het land en volgt practica op het gebied van elektronica en elektro-akoestiek. De praktijkleerperiode bestaat uit minstens 50 dagen stage bij een audiologisch centrum.

Toelatingseisen

Een diploma vmbo-theoretische leerweg/MAVO met wiskunde en natuurkunde in het vakkenpakket is minimaal vereist voor toelating tot de opleiding. Ook moet je de Nederlandse taal beheersen op niveau B1/B2. Voorafgaand aan de opleiding vindt er een gesprek plaats. Het kan voorkomen dat je op basis van dit gesprek het advies krijgt de opleiding niet te doen. Als je aantoonbaar beschikt over de juiste kennis door bijvoorbeeld diploma's van andere opleidingen of op basis van extra cursussen en werkervaring, dan word je direct toegelaten. Indien je niet over de juiste vooropleiding of voldoende relevante kennis beschikt, beslist de opleidingscommissie of je toegelaten wordt. De commissie besluit dit op basis van schriftelijke voorinformatie, een gesprek en (indien nodig) een toetsing van benodige kennis en vaardigheden.

Audiology assistant

During the 1-year MBO Audiology Assistant course, you will gain knowledge about the functioning of hearing, sound, speech and hearing aids. You will learn, among other things, to conduct research, provide information and advice and fit hearing aids. During this training to become an audiology assistant, you will learn to independently perform audiometric research on children and adults. You learn to provide information and advice about hearing loss and aids to the hearing impaired themselves and/or to those around them. You will also learn more about adjusting hearing aids and assisting with vestibular research.

You will take theory lessons 1 day a week in the center of the country and practicals in the field of electronics and electro-acoustics. The practical training period consists of at least 50 days of internship at an audiological center..

Admission requirements

A diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) theoretical learning path/MAVO with mathematics and physics in the subject package is at least required for admission to the course. You must also master the Dutch language at level B1/B2. An interview will take place prior to the training. It is possible that, based on this conversation, you will be advised not to take the course. If you demonstrably have the right knowledge, for example through diplomas from other courses or based on additional courses and work experience, you will be admitted immediately. If you do not have the correct previous education or sufficient relevant knowledge, the program committee will decide whether you will be admitted. The committee decides this on the basis of written preliminary information, an interview and (if necessary) an assessment of the required knowledge and skills.
