Devotion
I've craved relentless unconditional affection and love,
one so unobtainable so unorthodox
my previous understanding that intimacy gave you purpose
couldn’t be more wrong
love is more than a kiss, a ring, or a beautiful event
love is also the Christmas mornings spent with my tumultuous family
love is the nights spent dancing in the kitchen to the most nostalgic of songs
love is sitting in silent calls or not and enjoying that presence
love is when our presence loves you too
love is not a moment it's a journey
meant to be spent with every being you see
different, varying levels
but perhaps that “hey how are you?”
to that stranger
leads you on a deep new path where you're bound together
in late nights and early mornings
by calls or cute dates
and unconditional, reeking and embed in our blood, type of love
that could last friendships, families and spouses
and maybe one day
I am ending and beginning my mornings and nights
with a smile while saying from the bottom of my heart without a hint of hesitation,
I love you.
