The Divergence of His heart

He went to sleep with the stars’ invite

After telling his love goodnight

They spent a day together,

a day turned to a night, still glowing bright

She’s perfect, he knows,

she’s everything he ever wanted, ever could want.

They themselves are their future, they’ve promised so.

It’s their fate, destiny,

bonded forever, as everyone sees.

So he goes to bed, thinking of the day,

while day-dreaming throughout the night.

He looks out to see the stars.

Oh, what a heavenly sight,

one that no one can deny

He fell asleep soon after

hoping to dream of her laughter.

The laughter did play

But not from Her

It was from Another

The events of the day

did replay

though not without disarray

Her smile becomes Another’s

Her voice becomes Another’s

Her hands, her touch, her eyes

has become Another’s

She has become Another.

And in the dream he loved Another

the same way he did with Her.

Then he woke up, knowing something has changed

when he felt a pang of shame and guilt

for going against the way God has arranged

and for “loving” someone else

even though he tried to repel.

Like all dreams, he cannot recall clear

the things they did, the events that occured.

Every detail has disappeared

All but what he felt

He felt immense love

and intensely loved.

And when Another looked at him

God, she’s beautiful…

that warm feeling, he cannot ignore

Another is perfect.

But perfect is for Her

not for someone he barely knows, a stranger

But he moves on

He forgives his mind for sinning

and tells the thought “begone!”

But he can’t forget

He feels his mind split in two-

a divergence of love.

His heart, still Her’s,

strays towards Another

The forbidden flame softly whispered its invite.

The stars shined a different shade.

His eyes, once again filled with fire and desire

but now for Another

But it’s impossible

How can one dream offset fate?

He is Her’s

He loves Her

He loves Her

He loves Her…
