Amber eyes

Once the colour of caution,

it now draws me in

Into the eyes that saw no evil

I found a haven,

a blessing incarnate

The embodiment of kindness,

an angel in a mortal world

You made me feel a way I’ve never felt

by saying things I’ve never heard said to me.

Radiating a light I can’t avoid.

I’m terrified of such light - 

they’ve burnt me before.

But for you I’ll succumb one last time.
