Mathematics: Where Logic Meets Creativity
Mathematics: Where Logic Meets Creativity
As we reflect on the academic year, the Mathematics Department is proud to showcase a year filled with innovation, interdisciplinary collaborations, and achievements. Our dedication to cultivating independent and critical thinkers while fostering students’ enthusiasm for mathematics led to a variety of engaging activities and projects throughout the year.
Math Trail
Our Secondary 1 students participated in a Math Trail around the school, which not only strengthened their confidence in recalling and applying mathematical concepts but also provided them with authentic learning experiences. This hands-on approach integrated their understanding, experiences, and reasoning, making mathematics more relatable and engaging.

Statistics in Action
For our Secondary 2 students, statistics became a dynamic experience as they explored data collection, organization, presentation, computation, and interpretation. Through this Statistics Learning Experience, they gained valuable insights into the significance of data analysis in mathematics and the application of various formulas, making statistical concepts more accessible and relevant.
Making sense of data collected and present the data in Excel
Applying Mathematics to Real-World Scenarios
To enhance problem-solving skills and deepen conceptual understanding, our Secondary 3 students engaged in Inquiry-Based Learning lessons. They examined the profitability graph of a toy company, modeled using a quadratic equation, and made informed decisions regarding toy production. This hands-on activity enabled them to apply mathematical concepts to real-life situations, reinforcing the practicality of mathematics.

Math Learning Day: Where the FUN begins!!
Throughout the academic year, our students eagerly took part in Mathematics Learning Day, a termly initiative organized by the Mathematics Department.
In Term 1, students explored Numbers and Algebra by playing Connect 24. Using mathematical operators, the BODMAS rule, and given numbers, they formulated equations to reach the target number 24. Both students and teachers actively participated in this engaging activity.

In Term 2, students put their Geometry knowledge to the test in the Ubongo Challenge. Racing against time, they worked to fit colored tiles into designated templates, sharpening their spatial reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
