Learning Journey to Supreme Court
Learning Journey to Supreme Court
As part of our Humanities programme, students embarked on a meaningful learning journey to the Singapore Supreme Court and key landmarks in the Civic District. The experience was designed to deepen their understanding of governance, heritage, and the evolution of Singapore’s legal and political landscape.
The journey began with guided stops at several historically significant sites including the Old Parliament House (now The Arts House), the Old Supreme Court and City Hall (now the National Gallery), Victoria Concert Hall, the Padang, Raffles Landing Site, and the Asian Civilisation Museum (viewed from the exterior). These stops were facilitated by experienced guides who brought the past to life through engaging narratives, helping students draw connections between Singapore’s colonial history and its modern-day governance.
The highlight of the visit was the tour of the current Supreme Court of Singapore, where students were privileged to have the session conducted by a former lawyer. Through this unique opportunity, students gained firsthand insights into the judicial system, legal processes, and the importance of the rule of law in maintaining justice and order in society.
Overall, the learning journey was an enriching experience that allowed students to explore key civic institutions and landmarks, while fostering a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s legal and historical development.
