Ms Eleanor Chia
Dear Springfield family,
Looking back at 2024, I am filled with gratitude and pride as I see a year rich with memories in motion — a year marked by meaningful moments, transitions, and growth for our students, staff, and school community.
The theme of this yearbook, "Memories in Motion," beautifully captures the spirit of our dynamic journey as a school. It reflects not only the many events that have taken place throughout the year, but more importantly, the movement — personal, collective, and forward-looking—that defines Springfield. Like a highlight reel, these moments of learning, challenge, celebration, and reflection remind us of how far we’ve come, and how much we have grown.
We began the year with the Start-it-Right programme, laying a strong foundation for students to reconnect with their goals, values, peers and community. Throughout the year, different signature programmes were experienced by each level of students. Our Secondary One students embarked on an exciting Outdoor Adventure Camp, where they built confidence, resilience, and friendships in the great outdoors. Our Secondary Two students developed social awareness and empathy through learning about sustainable living and food security and being involved in intergenerational learning projects as part of the newly minted Stempathy Programme. For the first time since the pandemic, our Secondary Three cohort ventured overseas to Vietnam and Cambodia through the Global Education Programme, immersing themselves in new cultures and perspectives. This marked an important milestone for our students that will surely stay etched in their hearts and minds. For the Secondary Four/ Five students, we celebrated their achievements and growth at the Graduation Ceremony. The year ended with the Finish Strong programme, for students to reflect on and celebrate their growth and achievements for the year, and to be grateful for the positives and lessons learned.
Our students have made us proud across various domains, from commendable academic achievements in national examinations as well as academic competitions like Olympiads and science research competitions, to excellence in co-curricular activities, to meaningful contributions in the community, especially in the area of sustainability and EcoSTEM. Our Springfielders have demonstrated not just talent, but tenacity and the importance of effort. They have shown what it means to lead with purpose and to grow with heart.
Behind these achievements are the stories of everyday moments, of students supporting one another, of teachers going the extra mile, of teams coming together to create something greater than the sum of their parts. These are the moments that may not always be captured in photos, but live on in the culture and spirit of our school.
At Springfield, we believe that every student’s journey matters. Our school motto, “Better Self for Better Tomorrow,” reminds us that education is not just about outcomes, it is about the character, mindset and values we cultivate along the way. This past year, we also took a significant step forward in our journey of continual growth and renewal, by refining our school vision, mission and values. These refreshed statements serve to anchor us even more clearly in our purpose, and to guide our work in nurturing students of character and competence in a changing world.
We continue to ground our efforts in our STRIDE values - Service, Tenacity, Responsibility, Integrity, Diligence, and Empathy. I have seen these values come to life in powerful ways throughout the year.
To all our students, thank you for putting your hearts into all that you do. To our teachers and staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication and belief in every child. To our parents, school advisory committee, alumni, and partners, thank you for walking this journey with us, and for your constant support and encouragement.
As we look back on a year filled with motion and meaning, may we also look ahead with hope and conviction. Let these memories inspire us to keep growing, keep serving, and keep striving, as individuals and as a community.
