Netball

The Netball CCA provides students with a rich blend of athletic development, leadership opportunities, and community engagement. In 2024, our team was involved in a series of meaningful experiences that helped our girls grow as athletes, teammates, and compassionate individuals.

A key highlight of the year was the organisation of our very own Netball Carnival, where we invited teams from other schools to participate. Planning and running this event gave our students valuable experience in leadership, teamwork, and event management. From coordinating logistics to facilitating the matches on the day itself, the girls took ownership of their roles and worked collaboratively to ensure the carnival ran smoothly. This experience built their confidence and taught them the importance of clear communication, responsibility, and initiative. They also gained a deeper appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes of sporting events and learned to see success not just in performance, but in the ability to create a meaningful experience for others.

The team also competed in the National School Games (NSG) Netball Championships. Through this competition, our players developed resilience, discipline, and tactical awareness. The rigour of training and the intensity of competition helped them grow in mental strength and perseverance. They learned to handle setbacks constructively, support one another on and off the court, and stay focused under pressure. Most importantly, they displayed sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the season, valuing both victory and growth.

Outside of competitions, our netballers also took part in a memorable Netball Camp that focused on service and team bonding. As part of the camp, the team visited All Saints Home, where they engaged elderly residents through hands-on activities like painting and crafts. This intergenerational interaction was a meaningful experience for the girls, who learned to communicate with empathy, show respect, and serve with kindness. Many shared how the visit deepened their understanding of compassion and broadened their perspectives beyond school and sport.

The camp concluded with archery bonding games that brought the team together in a fun and light-hearted setting. These activities required strategic thinking, collaboration, and mutual encouragement, helping to strengthen relationships and reinforce the importance of unity and trust.

Through these experiences, our Netball CCA has provided a platform for holistic development. The girls have not only honed their sporting skills, but also grown as responsible leaders and empathetic individuals. They have learned to lead with humility, play with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to their community.
