EXAMINATIONS and PAPERS
To obtain credits for a registered course, students must attend at least two-thirds of all classes and pass the prescribed examination. Examinations consist of an in-class exam and a final exam. In some courses, grade assessment may be done based on papers or in-class performance.
Note: For details of the evaluation method for each course, check the “Grading Method and Criteria” section in the syllabus. Instructors may explain their evaluation methods during class.
In-class exam
In-class exams are examinations, etc. administered by the instructor in charge during the regular class period.
Final exam
Final exams are examinations administered during the exam/makeup class adjustment period of each semester. Time schedules for final exams will be posted on ToyoNet-G two weeks prior.
Papers
Papers are assignments administered by the instructor in charge in place of written examinations.
Make-up exam for graduation
Graduation make-up exams are examinations administered after the announcement of graduation eligibility for fourth-year students (enrolled in their 8th semester or above) who have met the requirements specified by their faculty and who wish to graduate.
Even if you take an exam for a course which is not listed on your Course Registration, this exam will be treated as invalid.
Both final and in-class exams are administered according to the ordinary class timetable.
Note that exam venues may be different from regular classrooms. Please check the relevant information on ToyoNet-G.
When an exam for a course takes place in two or more rooms, each student will be assigned to a specific room depending on their student ID number. Be sure to take the exam in the designated exam room.
Follow the instructions of the supervisor during the exams.
Students are not allowed to take a final exam without a valid student ID card. Be sure to bring your student ID card and place it on your desk during the final exam, as directed by the supervisor. (Students may be required to show their Student ID even while sitting for an in-class exam. Carry your Student ID with you during the exam period.)
The only items that are permitted to be brought into the exam room are writing materials, watches (with time indicating function only) and other items authorized by the instructor. Devices with communication functions, such as cell phones and smartphones, are not allowed to be placed on the desk. Turn off your device and place it in your bag so as not to disturb others during the exam. The above-mentioned devices are not allowed to be used for keeping time.
Be sure to bring writing materials (ballpoint pens, pencils and erasers). No writing materials will be loaned out.
Drinking and eating during an exam is prohibited.
Be sure to fill in the faculty, department, school year, student ID number and name fields on the answer sheet using a black pen or black ballpoint pen (not an erasable pen).
In the student ID number field, enter all 10 digits of your student ID number printed on your student ID card. Answer sheets without complete student ID numbers or names will be invalid.
No students will be admitted to the exam room after the first 20 minutes of the final exam have elapsed. No students will be allowed to leave the exam room until 30 minutes after the exam begins and unless the exam supervisor gives them permission. If you leave the exam room before the exam finishes, you will not be allowed to re-enter.
If you can not take an exam because of an unavoidable reason, including a disaster or illness, submit appropriate evidence, such as a medical certificate (a copy is acceptable), to the instructors in charge and follow their instructions.
If a student is found to be cheating during an exam, severe measures will be taken based on the Academic Rules and Regulations (Article 57). For the regulations on academic misconduct and details of the punishments involved, please refer to the following. Academic misconduct during an in-class exam will also be subject to punishment. Please be sure to check the instructions and explanations given by the instructor in charge.
Be aware of the possibility of disruption to transport services and bad weather, and be sure to arrive at the exam venue in good time.
