Pupil Absence/Appointments
Please contact us before 8.30 am on each day of absence/appointments. Absence is a safeguarding concern. Lack of notification results in a text alert querying why your child is absent. You can phone on 01489 892256, choosing Option 1, or use the relevant email address below. Please also use these emails to report any early collections / late arrivals due to appointments:

Enrichment Options – Spring Term

If your child has still not selected their enrichment options for the Spring Term, please email their name, tutor and 5 choices to: enrichment-help@swanmore-sec.hants.sch.uk before 10.30am tomorrow, Friday 8 December 2023. After this time, any pupil who has not submitted their options will have an enrichment activity assigned for them according to availability.

School meals only available in first break next week

A reminder that due to the Christmas lunches taking place next week (11 - 15 December), the Swan Café, the Cube and the Cuboid will only be serving food in first break each day. This will include burgers, pizzas, and sandwiches for pupils to buy, so they can save something for the lunch break. Please remind children to get their food then. During the lunch break, only the vending machine will be available to buy snacks each day.

Non-Uniform Day

As we continue to work closely with our partnership schools in Ghana, we are having a non-uniform day on Wednesday 13 December 2023 to raise some much-needed funds for some building work at the two schools, Dziedorve and Aklobordzi. We would like to ask that pupils either pay £1 via SCOPAY or bring in £1 cash to donate during tutor time. Pupils are invited to wear a Christmas jumper or something Red, Yellow, or Green to symbolise the Ghana flag. If they are partaking in a physical enrichment, they must still dress appropriately for the activity. No crop tops or short skirts/dresses/shorts please.

Last Day of Term

On Friday 15 December 2023, Swanmore College will close early, and pupils will finish at 12.40 pm. Our transport operators have been informed and will be on site to collect pupils.

Pupils are invited to wear something 'Christmassy' on the last day of term. This is not a non-uniform day and pupils are expected to wear their normal College uniform with a token Christmas gesture. This might be one of the following:

Driving Considerately

We have had several reports of drivers hitting puddles at speed and splashing pupils on their way to/from college. Please be vigilant when driving and go around puddles or through them slowly, as there is a lot of water on the road at this time of year. Please note that splashing pedestrians is illegal and you can be prosecuted under Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act for careless, aggressive, or inconsiderate behaviour on the road.

Equipment and Stationery in Science

From January, any pupil that does not have the correct stationery will be given a warning in their lesson. The list of required stationery can be found here: Equipment - Swanmore College (swanmore-school.co.uk) Whilst we have been prepared to lend the occasional item of stationery this term it is now becoming excessive. To help, we will be modelling the use of receiving a warning to all pupils this side of Christmas when they ask to borrow stationery. Christmas could provide an ideal opportunity for your child to stock up on some of the key stationery items. Pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium can collect their stationery free of charge from the Pupil Centre or S1HB.

Year 9

There are no specific items for Year 9 only

Year 10

The Lifeskills Company came into college on Tuesday 5 December to deliver sessions on successful revision techniques. Year 10 & 11 pupils practised their skills in making index cards, flip revision cards and mind maps, as well as using post it notes, folders, capital letters and colour to make revision memorable.

This was a great opportunity for them, and they will be encouraged to use these techniques in college. At home, using these techniques whilst revising would be a great way of making revision memorable and ensuring they are in the best position possible for their exams. We hope your child found the session useful and if you have any questions or would like more information, please get in touch with Miss Cheek (Y11) or Miss Quinn (Y10).
