Pupil Absence/Appointments
Please contact us before 8.30 am on each day of absence/appointments. Absence is a safeguarding concern. Lack of notification results in a text alert querying why your child is absent. Ice Cream Van

On Wednesday 27 September 2023 we will have an ice cream van in college, this will be by the Tennis Courts at lunch time. Pupils can purchase ice cream during their lunch break, with cash or card. Allergy information will be provided on the day on request. Dairy free and gluten free ice cream are available. The owner will be speaking with the Business and Enterprise enrichment class about how to start up a business and to demonstrate how to sell to the public.

Clubs

Please see attached the PE club timetable for this week. Please note that there will be no trampoline club running after college on Wednesday this week. KS3 Art Club starts this week, it will be running on Thursdays from 3.10pm - 4.10pm in R02. Pupils do not need to sign up, they can just gather under the canopy between R & S block at 3pm and a member of the Art team will meet them there.

PE Update

As part of a Health and Safety review in PE recently, we would like to make you aware of the following:

Football:

It is now compulsory that pupils wear shin pads when playing any form of football at Swanmore College and are wearing goalkeeper gloves when in goal (lessons/clubs/break and lunch). In PE lessons the wearing of shin pads and goalkeeper gloves will be compulsory. From January 2024, kit marks will be issued for pupils who do not have this equipment. We would also recommend that long white/black socks are worn when wearing shin pads. When using the MUGA and STP at break/lunch times, pupils are strongly advised to wear shin pads when using these facilities, but from January 2024 no pupil will be allowed access to these facilities if they do not have the required safety equipment (shin pads and goalkeeper gloves). Any pupil seen acting in a dangerous manner (e.g. slide tackling) will be asked to leave the facility.

Rugby:

It is now compulsory for all pupils participating in contact Rugby to wear a gum shield. You child's PE teacher will ensure that they know when this equipment will be needed.

PE Kit:

Our PE department has a broad and balanced curriculum for pupils to experience. To ensure the comfort of participants and team ethos, we are planning on making a few adjustments to the Kit in the following year. Please note that these changes won't come into play until September 2024.

Socks: Black and White Socks are acceptable presently - we will be moving to just Black socks from September 2024.

Hoodie: From September 2024 our Swanmore College Hoodie as well as a new Swanmore College Quarter Zip Up Top will be standard issue outerwear. Plain Black Hoodies will no longer be acceptable. (Skoolkit will not sell the hoodie from September 2024, however, we will still accept it as part of the PE uniform, as we appreciate that many pupils will still have one).

Woodland Skills Enrichment

We are looking for donations and items to recycle for our Woodland Skills enrichment club. Please see the attached letter for details of the items that are required. We appreciate any help you can provide.
