1. Introduction
SunWater Spa recognizes the importance of accommodating employees who require the assistance of service animals due to disabilities. This Employee Service Animal Policy outlines our guidelines and procedures to ensure the accommodation of employees with service animals while maintaining a safe and productive work environment for all staff members.
2. Definition of Service Animal
For the purposes of this policy, a service animal is defined as an animal that has been individually trained to perform tasks or provide assistance to an individual with a disability. Service animals are specially trained to perform tasks directly related to the individual's disability, such as guiding individuals with visual impairments, alerting individuals with hearing impairments to sounds, or providing assistance with mobility or medical conditions.
3. Accommodation Process
Employees who require the assistance of a service animal are encouraged to inform their supervisor and the Spa Director as soon as possible.
Upon receiving a request for accommodation, SunWater Spa will engage in an interactive process with the employee to determine the necessary accommodations. Reasonable accommodation will be provided unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the company.
4. Responsibilities of Employees
Employees bringing service animals to work are responsible for:
Ensuring that their service animal is properly trained, well-behaved, and under control at all times.
Ensuring that the service animal does not disrupt the workplace or pose a threat to the safety or comfort of coworkers.
Cleaning up after their service animal and ensuring that the Animal does not cause damage to company property.
5. Workplace Access
Service animals are permitted to accompany employees to all areas of the workplace where the employee is allowed to go. However, certain areas may be off-limits for safety or hygiene reasons.
Employees with service animals are asked to respect any restrictions on access to certain areas and to comply with the instructions of supervisors or management regarding where the service animal may accompany them.
6. Compliance
This Employee Service Animal Policy complies with all relevant laws and regulations governing the accommodation of individuals with disabilities, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
7. Review and Revision
This policy will be reviewed periodically and revised to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
8. Contact Information
For questions or concerns regarding this policy, employees may contact the Spa Director
